Default silly detail question; rubber strap

Going thru a box of old parts I came across a broken black rubber strap, 12" long + 1" turn over at each end that is stapled shut and 5/8" wide. On one end is a metal piece with a hold down hook on side and finger pull on the other. The other end of the strap has a metal rectangular "D" ring. I think it has something to do with the battery hold down but can't remember or figure out how.

The left side of the battery hold down frame was held by a long rod with a hook on the bottom end and a butterfly nut on the top. I couldn't find that so I fashioned one with a piece of rod welded to a spare right side hold down hook. The right side is held by a shorter version of the same hook rod.

My '87 lacks the left side hold down hook hole for the shorter hook rod used on the right side that is present on later model cars. The hole is some 8-10" further down on the battery tray frame support.

As I'm trying to get as many original details correct as possible any help about the strap are appreciated. Thanks.

My 89 doesn't have a rubber strap near the battery. It is only clamped down by two rods and then gets a cover on top whichbis clipped in place...

Jaguar battery down. I've not driven it in days. It is on the charger. Not
r completely flat, but not enough to crank. I suspect my pocket book is about to take a battery $ hit...
