The hardest part of removing the column is the Unijoint at the firewall. the column at the wheel end is held in by 2 bolts. IIRC you do need to remove the instrument cluster.

Thanks for the additional information. I have a Haynes Repair Manual that I will read in the hopes of being able to perform the task at hand.

What's the spec for the horn relay on a '91 XJS? Mine was removed sometime in the past and a yellow wire plugged into the holder (as a jumper, I presume). Now, I need the horn to work, and figured I'd start by reinstalling the relay. But what relay do I need?

The horn relay on a facelift XJS is light blue which is the same as many of the relays, and the same as the other ones in that relay set of the RH inner wing.

Paul. As he is in the USA, l believe his car is a "90 pre facelift model.

Mine is one of the last pre-facelifts. Still a light blue relay?
