Default Unbearable heat on my feet

So for the past while I have noticed that no matter what position any of the heater controls are in there is extreme heat blowing on my foot by the brake pedal. Today it was 33 degrees Celcious and my feet literally hurt. finally having had enough, I looked under the dashboard and there appears to be a vent with a flap in the area where the air is blowing and it is near what appears to be the heated motor. The flap seems to be closed. Any ideas on what is causing this and how I can turn this heat off would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lionel

Well not knowing where you are located, and whether or not they were used in your location, and based on my recent experience, it could be that your catalytic converters are "plugged". and therefore not exchanging heat as designed. Just a thought.

To stop the heat for now, locate the heater valve (no. 1 in the attached image). It's sort of between the back of the engine and the firewall. See if you can get it to close, which will stop the hot water going through. Maybe the vaccuum line there is leaking (no. 6).
