Does the Denso Ignition using the dual Ford ED1S6 Coil Packs use a distributor? I would like to see some photos of the installation on the 6.0L V-12 engine. I have had two failures with the Marelli rotor. There are a lot of posts about problems with the aftermarket non Marelli distributor cap and non original rotor eventually causing a short at the post on the distributor shaft causing raw fuel into the R/H catalytic converters. Attached is a photo of the most recent failure. Even with RTV silicone injected into the rotor where it inserts over the distributer shaft, which is supposed to help with the rotor failures, the failures can still occur. I have had to replace the Catalysts twice post failure. Even making sure that the spark plug gaps are correct (wrong gap contributes to the failures of the rotor) you can have the failure. Not sure why it is always the right bank part of the rotor that fails.
So, I am interested in the later coil pack ignition.

Information on the GM cruise is here. Since these pics were taken I have upgraded the rudimentary bellcrank and made an adjustable capstan similar to the throttle capstan in 2 pieces so I can adjust the pull on the cable. My new engine has the CC connection on the throttle capstan, I will still use a bellcrank but it will remove some of the slop I currently have, which will improve the speed control. The CC keeps the car ±5km/h, except on a steeper hills where I need to push the accelerator pedal.

My Marelli car has 270,000km and is on it's 2nd rotor. I still have the original Marelli rotor and it is in good condition. To have muliple rotor failures you have something else wrong causing the failure. The Lamborghini folks are using Jaguar Marelli rotors and caps on their Diablos. I'm sure the Lambo guys would not put these in if there was any possibility of the car burning.

To run the later coil pack ignition you will need the Denso ECU or an aftermarket ECU. And there is no distributor on the EDIS6 cars.
When I install my new engine I will be using the Marelli distributor and ignitors driven from a Megasquirt 2 installed in a 6CU case so it will plug directly into the Jaguar wiring harness in the boot. Because the MS2 uses PWM to control injectors I do not need all the injector wiring to the front so 2 of these spare injector wires will be used for logic level ignition to the Marelli modules. I will need to make a new modified engine wiring harness.
