Default VIN decoding

Is there a way to decipher the information within the VIN code? Specifically does the VIN code identify the colors, interior and exterior, and any other particulars? I want to ensure I get the headliner color correct when I replace it.

The exterior color is gunmetal grey
Interior is burgundy

My VIN is SAJJNVEV4HC137490

Build date Nov 86

The VIN won't help with that info. The paint and trim codes are on a tag under the hood or in the LH door jamb....probably on the a-pillar near the door hinges. I think the location of the tag varied over the years and perhaps by market

And after you get the trim code you'll go to the parts catalog which will have a chart showing what color headliner (and other bits) go along with that particular code. As I recall there were 3 different headliner colors in the 80s. Someone may have posted the chart in one of the sticky threads at the top of this section. Worth a look.
