Default Water resistant

So thought I would wash the dust off the cabriolet top. Garden hose/no nozzle.

Water got in along where the T top meets the door of course. We're not talking buckets here but I wasn't firing the hose right at the seams.

Do they all leak like this?

hey bubber I cannot speak for the xjs specifically and i don't know where exactly you mean without having owned one with a top like your but from personal experience I can say converitibles are usually water resistant, not waterproof.
Alot of them are made to be rained on and have water hit them from the top and sides, but if you get them at the right angle, they will leak.
My e30 and m30 were both this way.

mine stays dry !
aren't there any drains that may be blocked by dirt?
it could also be wear of the targa panel seals. now if this is the case it seems these are not available anywhere, but there is a guy who is into xj-sc's trying to have them reproduced frome the original jaguar drawings. if u're interested I can mail you his details.

The seals look like they are in great shape from what I can tell. The water leaked abit in the middle and wept in on the sides thus leaving a water stain on the headliner of teh T tops.

Thanks Deepee. I think my problem is at the seams/seals but this stuff looks cool.

Incidentally, I tried to join the cabriolet group. Got an email asking for my VIN. Replied and never heard back from them.

My experience with t-tops, targas, convertibles, cabriolets, etc over the years is that that are *almost* water tight when brand new. After that, each year of seal/weatherstrip shrinkage, every millimeter of body flex or mis-alignment, each little tweak or warpage of panels....all combines together and you end up with leaks.

You need the patience of a saint to fix 'em, and I ain't got it :-)

Cheers
DD
