Default Well took apart the fueling...again! Might be the problem

i changed the filter a couple weeks ago and the gas that came out seemed separated. So I figured maybe the gas was all bad and was the reason my car won't stay running. Bought a siphon pump as I assumed a good few gallons should be in the tank... nothing. That's weird. Grab the sump and shake it and can tell nothing's in it, just a little bit. From the photos below you can see it was full of rust and dirt and upon opening the main tank at the float... there was just about a half gallon in it and some more crap inside it. So I must've finally pretty much run the gas out of it last time it quit but I can't believe the little amount I ran it it went through that many gallons. I don't think I have a leak anywhere... at least not in the back. Anyway I'm going to get a new filter for the sump and toss in a new fuel pump since I have it apart for the second time(not doing it again). Hopefully all this crap in the sump is my problem.

Whew???

It might be worth taking it to a radiator shop and having them "boil it out".

yeah that's something that's really made me upset with myself. I do all this work and forget cleaning out the sump which I now realize it's probably the thing that should be cleaned most. If the injectors are fowled again I'll be so mad. I'm going to toss sea foam in it right away.

ive called a bunch of shops earlier in the year when I had my main tank out. No one will touch tanks around this area.

Default Help!!

Ahhhh! Put in new pump, new filter and new screen in the sump. Put it all together and it started right up and ran good. No white smoke, revved up nice and dropped back to idle... idle was definitely higher than it's been but car was feeling decent. Almost sounded like a slight miss but I'm guessing that has to do with whatever is happening after a few minutes. Idle went down a little bit and I tried to rev it up again and it went into bog down mode again. Try to rev it and it sounds like it's drowning. Then shut it off and try to restart it and it'll go once or twice and then it's done for a good hour or so. Is it flooding out?? Seems like there would be very few issues that would cause a car to quit and then not start for an hour or more? The only thing that kinda coincides I believe is some white smoke coming up from the rear of the engine. I'm not sure where it's coming from exactly. No particular smell kinda just a "hot smell". Any help would be amazing!
