What did you do to or buy for your XJ-S/XJS today?

Hi there!

This is a common thread style on many Volvo boards, so I thought I'd carry it over :D

Simply post what you either did to or bought for your XJ-S/XJS today... Pictures, text, videos,... What ever you have! :)

Daim 10-03-2014 12:40 PM

I'll start...

I've been cleaning more parts lately... Funds aren't the best at the moment, so some things have to wait...

The intakes are still going to be blasted yet... To match the thermostat housings :)

Great idea, Daim. I control my (replacement) electric main fan using the OEM 85° water pump temp switch and the Grant Francis rewire system. I have recently found it cycles on and off too much in stop/go traffic.

I replaced the temp switch with an "On at 92° Off at 87°" switch from a Fiat. Works a treat and gives enough hysteresis to stop the cycling. But right now the scarce budget is being soaked up buying parts for my tractor engine rebuild. After 55 years the old Massey Ferguson 23c diesel deserves it!

Just finished up working on getting the 6.0 out of a 94 sedan to transplant into my 89 convertible. I got to the full flow oil hoses, and just oh so hate to cut those babies, but looks like my best bet. That, or disassemble the chin spoiler, etc, so I can get to the ends of the hoses where they connect to the oil cooler.....

HA! I brushed up against the covered car whilst hauling Lionel train boxes up to the attic (gotta have lots of hobbies, keeps one out of the house and in and out of trouble).

An XJS grows once covered, definitely not a slimming action..

- 2000 mm of 8 mm silicone vacuum hose (black)
- 1000 mm of 5 mm silicone vacuum hose (black)

- 12x fuel injector mounting ring (upper)
- 1x vacuum hose spacer/adapter
- 4x inlet manifold gaskets (end piece rear)
- 2x inlet manifold gaskets (front end)

Daim 10-05-2014 09:28 AM

Just finished doing the balance pipe and the crank case ventilation pipe. They were cruddy and dirty and not really nice to look at. As you don't see much of them, I'd sanded them down and sprayed them matte black. Less "bling" in the engine bay :)

Today I am going to replace my dash warning lights with LEDs. It'll be sweet to finally be able to see if my parking brake light is on with the top down!

My poor '89 dropped some valve seats so the engine must come out.

I just picked up an '85 donor car. He's a bit scruffy but has a good engine. The rest of his parts will hopefully find good homes.

Surgery begins next week.

Changed the oil and filter and looked at the variety of trunk wind deflector / spoilers available on the web.
