Hi Guys,

I just purchased a 1990 XJS Coupe with 31K miles and it is in excellent condition. The car looks like its two years old and came out of NC. I am the second owner and have all the paperwork and maintenance records. Most of the gaskets were replaced under warranty with other items also taken care of. It runs great...

I did replace all fluids and plan on doing a radiator drain and fill every Spring with plain jane green coolant. I did pay $14k but this car is mint and I know it was well cared for.

Great score! If you're new to the XJ-S, may I suggest you download Kirby Palm's Experience in a Book and read up on the bits about the Marelli distributor? It's, er, on another forum but pretty helpful stuff in a not-burning-up-your-car kind of way.

Palm's is a really great book. Very informative... Thanks.

I'll get around to the fuel hoses next Spring but they do still look pretty good. They also still seem pliable.

The Cap and rotor do not have very miles on them and it also looks like I have to remove a lot of stuff to get the cap off. I will also check those in Spring. Thanks.

Anybody do the rotor fix that is in Palm's book? Fill the rotor up with silicone and replace it?

Default 95 xjs

After waiting 35 years, I finally got my XJS. Bought it toward the end of Sep this year for $9500, had 66000 miles on it, I have only driven it a few hundred.
1995 XJS 2+2, 4.0L, conv, in sapphire blue, cream interior, coffee carpets. I need to replace the front seat leather. Pretty car. First time we took it out with the top down, I was asked if it was for sale. Not a chance.

Must say, I have always loved 2 door coupe style muscle cars, favourite 69 fastback Mustang but ever since the XJS won Bathurst 85 Its been one at the top of my list also. I have being looking for the past 4/5 years for something then found a brilliant XJS at the right price. Never driven one till then but took only minutes before I fell in love.
Big plans for mine, it will be kept as a road car, Sunday car with a twist, something to play with, something to enjoy, and when I finish something that will blow the doorhandles off these modern coupes with blowfly engines.
There is no replacement for displacement!

Bought mine a few months back. I am the 3rd owner of "Candance". A 1989 XJS convertible 5.3 TRW model with 51,500 well taken care of miles. Paid 10k, unfortunately to a middle man who handled the deal... but still worth while. Drove it back from NJ to WV... Blew a tire out on the PA turnpike when I saw a wide open 3 mile stretch of road ahead. Forgot to check the air in the spare (none) and spent a few extra hours for my bad !!! Runs great... Had a small leak in a radiator hose and with a $2.00 piece of hose and about 3 hours, corrected. Now has a small brake line leak near the back end but have not had time to get to that yet. Ordered a two post lift for the garage so I could work on her properly.. Oh yes, just bought another 89 with very close vin number in SC for a parts car and going to fetch it after the Veterans Parade today where Candance is making her WV debut !! Wife will drive me in the Parade.... I am kicking up dust on being 72 years young, retired military and hope this beautiful machine will be my ride for another 20 or so years!!

My '92 XJS was purchased this last August. It was a local sale from her second owner.

This car is absolutely mint. Almost Concourse quality. The engine bay is shiny, the interior looks like the day it came off the showroom floor.

The car had been kept in a garage that was carpeted and driven only when the sun was shining!

Everything works on this car and it has power everything. In fact the only two options that were available for this car that are not installed are the car phone and the alarm system. But it is wired for them.

So far the only things I have needed to do were wash and wax her. I suspect that the right door window mechanism may need some new grease as it is starting to bog down going up.

In August she had 98,000kms, (61,000 miles) Since than I have added just under 2,000kms.

Her original asking price was $10,000 cdn, but I guess the owner took a liking to me as each time I spoke to him he lowered the price. In the end he even paid half of the transfer fee ($1,000 cdn).

When all was said and done my total cost, with taxes, came to $6,800cdn or $6490.00usd.

I just bought my red 1985 XJS a couple of weeks ago. I didn't get any decent pictures of it before eagerly tearing in to it in hopes I can drive it soon. Some of my story is in this thread:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...35/#post854431

Well, I did drive it on to the trailer - and off - when I brought it home. Also took it on a VERY short run around the neighborhood.

It has been sitting for years. Lots of age related issues - mostly dry hoses and wiring. The exterior was painted some time ago, I suspect by the PO himself. It is a decent, but not great paint job. Certainly good enough. The interior is in really good shape with little wear on the carpets or seats.

Most of the stuff works, except the engine. And the AC. The transmission leaks like a sieve, which I think is just the gasket.

We'll see how it goes. I didn't pay a ton of money for it - $2985 US - but whether that was a good deal or not remains to be seen. I have wondered if I'd have been better off spending $5k (or a bit more) for one in better shape. On the other hand, I buy cars for the joy of the car and that includes working on them for me. This one has been fun so far.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE NICEST MODEL I'VE EVER SEEN. IT LOOKS FLAWLESS. VERY, VERY GOOD DEAL!

I bought my 89 XJS a month ago and still havn't had time to ride drive it because I'm moving. My pearl white coup had 61K miles as well. Your seats are different and I like that year.....maybe a convertable is in my furture? however, I'll never find one as nice as yours, good job!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!

I have a 94 XJ6 that I purchased just over 2 years ago. It had 135k on it and I paid $3150 for it. Currently I'm just under 160,000 miles.

I bought my 1991 XJS V-12 with 34,500 miles early September 2013. It is in very good condition and has always been garaged( this next week it will go to bed for the winter as it has snowed a couple times already this year). I am the third owner of the car and have known the former owners for a long time. It did have a suspension problem but the former owners fixed it before I bought it. Purchase price $13,000. Yes,it might be a little high but this is my dream car.

I bought mine 11/16/2013. It's an XJS, Carnival Red, 1996. Cream interior. The car is in excellent condition. Purchased in Laguna Beach, California. 80k mi. $10.5k. In one day I put on about 80 miles. My wife said that it was the most fun she's had driving since she went on the Autopia at Disneyland 50 years ago.

Hi - Got my Jag 2 days ago - 2005 XJ6 3.0 litre V6 in pearlescent Jaguar Racing Green with 20" Sepang alloy wheels and ivory leather upholstery. Has 92,000 miles on it with a full dealer service history and one owner (Jaguar employee).
Paid £7,000 and is as close to perfect condition (inside and out) as one could wish for in a 8 year old car - clearly the car has been cherished by it's former owner and it shows, a real stunner. Will post pics in my garage asap.

I bought my XJS unseen, over Ebay, in fall of 2010. One (lady) owner car, driven in Connecticut, the car seems to have been pampered all of its life.
"As new" condition, 30 000 miles on the clock. While a lot of my friends urge me to sell what they consider to be a "heffaclump", I love it! It's a very relaxed ride that doesn't cause my adrenaline to stir compared to driving my 930 Turbo or Boxster S. The Jag is so graceful and beautiful. It puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it..

Bought my '94 XJS 6.0 Coupe two days ago with 80,000 miles on it for $6500. Great condition with full records and receipts since new.
I proud to be back in a Jag after selling my X300 4 years ago.
