Make sure it a 12..............besides the fuel bill which is mind blowing, fixing it is mind blowing. I had to have the 12., and after some time and help here, no other way go 12.
Its cool, people ask...open the hood. V12 engines are not often seen. Their eye's go la la... and say fu#$K that, my smile is worthless.
You leave with status, until a 20yr old looks at the exhaust and say its soooo small. That is not cool.
Drain pipe / XJS - obviously does not know style,

For a V12, it will have to be a 95 when choosing between those two years. I agree about the ownership of the V12. I have owned several, have 3 V12 Jags now. I also have two 6 cylinder cars. One of them is a 95 triple black convertible with a 6 cylinder. As much as I love the V12s, the 6 cylinder cars are as reliable as any car out there. But to be honest, I would love to have a 94 or 95 V12 XJS convertible, as these cars are FAR more rare than even a XKE.

I would buy the nicest '95 or '96 you can find. Both will have the AJ16 6cyl.or if you would rather a 6.0l 12cyl. you will be limited to a '95. The cost to repair or replace worn items like interior leather or exterior paint is very costly so best to find the best condition one you can afford and you will save thousands in the end. The '96 in north America will be the celebration edition and this will come with two tone piping on the seats with some other celebration items but for the most part the '95 and '96 are the same.
Good time of year to be looking so take your time. You may look at some that are not what people say they are condition wise but hang in there because when you find the right car for you it will be worth the effort. We get compliments on our '95's every time we take them out.

A good fuel treatment and ceramic oil friction modifer along with a coolant filter are my personal recommendations but overall nothing beats an italian tuneup.
