Default XJS remote freq.

I'm hoping someone on here can answer my question about a car remote frequency.

I have an XJS with a UK remote that operates on 418 Mhz, the newer replacements are 433 Mhz. But the circuit boards are the same and both say 418 - 433 on the board.
My question is....should the new one just work on my 418 or must l find some sort of switch ??

malc4d,

I apologise that I don't know the answer but am intrigued to find out!

Jaguar fitted 3 different frequency systems when the cars were new - 318mhz, 418mhz & 433 mhz, depending on the country to whom the car was supplied.

You can buy remote fobs in all 3 frequencies still from Jaguar. The 418mhz fob is DBC100852 and the 433mhz is DBC 10086. So I'm not sure why you were supplied with the 433mhz replacement, apart from the fact that it's £15 cheaper?!

Looking forward to hearing if it works as I'll then buy a 433mhz next time I need one!

Good luck

Paul

Hi Paul. Unfortunately not. The web page doesn't show the UK anymore, only 318 and 433 are shown.
Also if you google that no. it seems only 433 are available.

Part no. DBC100852 | Key fob transmitter parts from Jaguar Heritage Parts UK

Is there a little adjustment screw on the circuit board. I remember our alarm guy used to have a little plastic screw driver for ' tuning ' alarm remotes but I can't remember which model.

If there is a screw, put the alarm into learn mode. Press the button while turning the screw until the car recognises the remote.

Please note.....I worked at a dealer many moons ago so maybe these remotes didn't have screws. Good luck.
