JAGUAR XJS 1977 V12 TWIN TURBO Race car - CAMS LOG BOOK | eBay

Bruce was kind enough to show me over his car as I am planning a TT for my XJS.

Looks pretty mean - wouldn't mind going for a spin in it! How far along in the planning phases are you? Are you considering developing it as a kit, or is this a one-off?

Hadn't thought of doing a kit - maybe worth considering.

As mine is a late HE with Marelli the CR is too high for FI 11.5 to 12.5:1 depending on which book you read.

So I need to lower the CR, there are 2 ways to do this - new low CR pistons or decompression plate. While I have the engine apart I may as well give it a freshen, while the engine is out I may as well re-paint the engine bay, while I am re-painting the engine bay I may as well re-spray the whole car.......OMG what a delema where to start..

In a nutshell I have been researching a number of options with the engine rebuild. I was looking at giving it some extra cubes with a stroked crank and slightly oversize pistons. But I might not go down this route just yet...

I expect it to take me a year to get it running - Things I need to do in this order

1. Ignition and fuel - I think the easiest option here is an aftermarket ECU - I will be using a Megasquirt with dual EDIS
2. CR dropped to 9:1 and at a minimum new rings.
3. Turbo mounting - hopefully on the existing manifolds.

Bruce had this car at Eastern Creek a few weeks back and it looked and sounded brilliant as it came down the main straight into the first corner.
