I installed the pedals and will post some pictures tomorrow. I had some taken but they were too big to load.

The pedals look better than I thought. Gives the car a real high end sport look like what you see in Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. I'm very happy with the look and how nice they fit into the XKR 175 color scheme. The car looks so much more sophisticated than the cheap stock rubber brake pedal, plastic gas pedal; and, yes the footrest with the "R" logo on the lower half screams XKR. I'm going to leave them just the way they are no painting of logo etc. They look real sweet and not at all tacky.

Is that Carrera GT yours or your friends?

 

I thought I'd throw in a few extras. What do you think? Up close they look much better, but this should give you the idea. I like the location of the "R" logo on the rest pedal. Looking down when in the drivers seat it is in the center of the left bottom opening of the steering wheel. Any comments on the pedals and the other pictures.

Did you get the car with the carbon fiber on the side mirrors, or did you wrap these/have them wrapped?

Is it Carbon Fiber or a vinyl wrap?

Pedals look good. How did you mount the left foot rest pedal? I don't currently have a foot rest pedal...

 

It's 3M 1080 vinyl wrap. It's also on the center front splitter and center rear diffuser. Pictures don't show it very well. I was going to do the roof too, but I'm glad I stopped. I wanted to do some subtle changes and not make the car look sinister. I did it myself. Not too hard to do with a heat gun. I also added the leaper to the trunk and the "R" logo to the front grill and both sides in front of the jaguar vents.

The carpet bay is already moulded with a foot rest and has a rigid backing (could be plywood). simply screw the foot rest to it.

 

So... I like what I see so far!
Could I impose on you to snap a few closeups, so I can see how the plates stand off the peddles or any gaping in the fit?
Kinda curious about the side profile, and screw mounting system.

Do you feel the damage to the original peddles would be very visible if you took them off some day in the future...or just slightly noticeable? How exactly do they attach? Did you drill all three pieces, or just thread into the rubber pad?

They look good. No question.

But after decades of using stock metal pedals on landrovers I'm not a huge fan.

Wet shoes tend to slip off.

The brake and gas pedal are plates that form exactly to the surface of the existing pedals with about 1/8" over coverage all the way around. The rubber cover of the brake pedal is removed and the plate fits on top and is screwed in using an existing hole in the stock pedal and a new hole was drilled. The gas plate was installed by drilling 2 holes. I'm not concerned at all about the holes. I'm not getting down to take close ups. I don't go down for anyone. (LOL) I'm very happy with the fit and the look. I'm thinking about getting a large foot rest for the passenger side like in the Porsche GT picture in a previous post, but the floor mat would cover it. Under the passenger carpet there is a large aluminum protective cover for an alpine appliance. The plate can be screwed directly to it.

 

The original gas pedal is slippery cheap plastic. The brake pedal has raised rubber inserts with lots of rubber cover. Probably has close to the same rubber surface foot contact area as the stock full rubber cover with groves. The rubber inserts are well made of quality rubber and are not hard slippery rubber. I don't see an issue.

DGL - They look great! I'm glad that you're pleased with Robert's product.

About 2 weeks ago, I ordered the footrest (dead pedal) with slots (instead of dots) and the "R" logo to match my existing pedals. Robert at Ultimate Pedals assured me that he corrected the mockup he previously sent me and the slots will be parallel to the top and bottom. I'm looking forward to receiving it and will let everyone know when it arrives.

Very interested in seeing your dead pedal in comparison to DGL's. I'm presuming you'll have the slots filled in with rubber. Looking forward to photos.

You presumption is correct. I plan to fill in the slots with black rubber tubing. If I don't like it, I might paint that milled surface flat black or use black tape.

I didn't want the slots to go all the way through, since that would leave dirt marks on the ivory carpet and I'd have to remove the footrest every time I needed to clean underneath it.

How are you going to deal with the dead pedal? There really isn't a flat spot for it. I really want a dead pedal. Thanks for the post!

 

I received the footrest (dead pedal) today. It met my expectations and installs easily with 2 self-tapping stainless steel screws (included).

Here's how it looked upon arrival:


Here's how it looks now, after I filled in the slots. I used black rubber (not foam) weatherstripping with a self-adhesive backing from Home Depot. The width was a perfect fit and I used scissors to trim the length to fit. Easy to remove it I decide to go without the inserts.


What do you think? I like it better with the black inserts, since it matches the design of my factory pedals:


I'll post more pictures after I've cleaned the carpet and installed my new footrest.

Looks great. I also like it with the black rubber inserts. You may have been able to have the screw holes drilled in the slots and covered with the inserts. That way you could have drilled as many holes as you like to have it firmly attached. However, I like what I see. Great job in matching it up to your existing pedals.

 

I finally got around to cleaning the carpet so I could install my new footrest. Simple installation with 2 self-tapping screws. Here's how it now looks:




The factory should make this standard on XKR models. It really enhances the interior and keeps light-colored carpet from looking ratty. I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
