Default 07 xk won't start

2007 xk

Changed my upper radiator hose and now my car won't start. It keeps turning over but won't start. Any ideas?

Go back and recheck your work. Sounds like you may have disturbed a connector somewhere which may be the problem. If it ran before and it doesn't run now then something was moved.

does it crank ? do any lights go on ? Battery ?

I had a similar problem yesterday when my daily driver ( x type ) wouldn't crank at all after I changed the o2 sensor over the weekend. Ended up being a loose wire on the starter that got jostled when I was moving things around. Sometimes it's those little things ...

Shemp, would it throw codes if it won't start? I guess I need to check.

What sensors are located in the area you did the work. Did you have to move any wires or connectors or even vacuum lines to replace the hose. Did you do anything else besides replace the hose. It's gotta be somewhere in the area of the work. My 2 cents

Or pulled on something that caused a disconnect or break, a little farther away.

NO codes. The only sensor I was close to was the one right by the upper radiator hose. I was hitting it quite a bit trying to get the upper radiator hose on but it looks to be in good order. I guess I'll take it all apart to see if anything got hit. I've taken the car apart quite a few times and have never had any issues.

Now I'm wondering if my battery is just too low. It's not turning over very hard, almost sluggishly. Also, when I put my key in the key slot it just won't work at all. Have it on the charger now.

OK I assumed you had maybe a smart charger hooked up while you were doing the fix. If the hood was open then you can't lock the car and the processors will still suck some energy out of the battery. Anytime I do any work whether it be detailing the interior I always keep the charger hooked up just to keep the battery topped. Funny it didn't start even though it turned over. Do you know what the battery voltage was.

Well it was the stupid battery. I charged it after the fact because that's what I initially thought it was. My charger said it was full but I guess because I left the hood up while it was charging it just couldn't get all the way charged. Any way, it's charged and running great. Sorry for posting a dumb question but happy that's all it was.

Wow. Good news. So enough charge to crank the motor but not start the engine... crazy symptom of a low battery!

Glad it worked out cheap and easy for you. And thanks to this thread, we learned some valuable information - always use your battery maintainer when working on your X150.

Sort of confused here. Why would leaving your hood up drain your battery?
Do you have an under-hood light? My 2007 does not, and I've left my hood open for more than a week (while waiting for parts and time to work on something under the car), with no ill effect.

On my 2012 it goes like this. Open the door to pull the hood latch and the computers turn on. Open the hood and the computers are still on. Then you can't lock the doors and early shut down the computers when the hood is open. So it's like the car sits without being locked. A marginal battery will lose voltage and will not have enough to start .
