Default 2007 XK Glove Box question

I seem to be having a senior moment - even though I'm many years from that milestone - but can any of you guys confirm (or not) if the opening action of the glove box is cushioned/damped? My wife opened it yesterday and I was taken by surprise when it dropped like a stone. For some reason I thought it had some form of damping but I wasn't sure. My suspicion is that something has broken as a few days ago I found a small piece of black plastic on the carpet and wondered were the hell it came from.

thanks

Steve

It should be damped on opening. It's a pretty common problem and there is a technical service bulletin released on it. The repair is also described here on the board and only requires a pin or screw to replace the plastic clip that has broken. I had to do it on my '08 and works great now.
