2008 xk convertible speaker swap
The sound system in my 2008 xk150 CONVERTIBLE was about as bad as it could be. It is the Alpine system but who cares!
Being a convertible, which I drive too fast plus considering that most road surfaces around here, while paved, are quite noisy at any speed above 35 mph I had decided that any speaker/system upgrade was a waste of time and money.
Then my good buddy befriended me two pair of Pioneer TS-Z65CH component speakers. (He had upgraded to some FOCAL-ES Elite)
So I ripped the rear panels off last weekend, made some adapter rings and mounted the woofers plus the crossover and the tweeters. (yes the rear speakers input seem to be capped at @ 1K)
That was it for the weekend and the sound was not improved much. (not worth the effort)
This weekend I installed the woofers in the OEM housings and left the oem tweeters in place in both front doors.
Surprised was I! The sound went from being really, really bad to somewhat OK.
So…I would suggest that replacing the front door speaker (woofer) with something similar is a worthwhile expenditure. The sound is much more refined, clear rather than muddy and honestly nice enough sounding that I might run my battery down listening to Dire Straights in the garage (without the ctk plugged in).

ps...this is not a 'plug and play', you will need to trim the new 6.5" speakers to fit!
