This car has a SALVAGE TITLE......won't touch it. Has sustained major damage at some point or major water damage.

For 20k, I'd think about it. Heck, if it checks out at dealer that's a lot of car for 20K, salvage title or not.

I second that. With a "SALVAGE TITLE", I would not touch it for $20,000.

I'd say it depends on why it was salvaged and how it was repaired. If you investigate it fully and don't think of it as an investment then its the cheapest 2008 xk you'll find. It MIGHT be a good deal but you have to be very careful.

We have a family friend that salvages cars and bought a subaru from him. My son got in a fender bender that did $10K worth of damage because the repairs were done incorrectly. Basically the crumple zones were welded solid and bolted joints were misaligned and then welded so instead of having the correct "give" the whole front end had to be redone. We also found out that the airbag was illegally rewired rather than replaced so if it would have been a higher speed crash my son would have died.

It'd have to be a hell of a deal for me and then I'd probably spend some serious time with a mechanic AND a body shop to make sure everything was done right.

Also i'd have to paint it...
