Well......after the shop working on it the last few days they gave up.

First installed 6 ohms 50 watt and the tail lights were flashing repeatedly when pressed. Then installed 25 ohms 25 watt and everything was working fine except "Bulb Out" on the dash. Lastly tried 6 ohms 25 watt and everything was working fine and no "Bulb Out" when the ignition was on (engine off) but once you turn on the engine the "Bulb Out" went on again.

Anyone have any solutions or suggestions, let me know. Thanks!

2010 LED Taillight Conversion Kit

Hopefully (fingers crossed) I should receive my tail lights and trunk wire harness from Nalley Jaguar next week according to Dan Wicker. When I start this project I will keep you posted on the results.

Sweet! Hope you can figure out something that my guy couldn't. http://www.mbworld.org/forums/images...s/thumbsup.gif

Got my car back. I really like the new tail light. IMO....the my '08 tail lights looks outdated with these new ones.

Here are some pics. It looks like some of the LEDs aren't working but it's just the angle and lighting. All of them do work.

Looks real sweet. I can't wait to do mine. Did they fix the brake light problem you talking about? Let me know the results.

GhostriderXKR08 08-21-2010 10:32 AM

All the tail lights work but it's still shows bulb failure in the dash with a picture of the car indicating one by one which bulb has failed. Sometimes when I turn right, the inside indicator would flash faster than normal but the outside bulbs are flashing at normal speed.

Hope you can find a solution for the bulb failure in the dash. :)

BTW....check your PM! http://www.mbworld.org/forums/images...s/thumbsup.gif

Wow... that looks incredible! I saw the price for the kit, but any idea how many hours it would take for labor to install, and what that would cost?

Looks great I ould love to do this to my XK.. However I wouldnt be able to drive the car with an indicator light in the dash it would drive me NUTSSS

I agree; it would drive me crazy.... hope you get it worked out

GhostriderXKR08 08-25-2010 09:43 AM

After driving it around a few days now I was somewhat suprise it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would be. I do see myself catching the time and realizing I now have to look on the bottom left of the center consol display instead of the center dash.

If there is a fix....I would definitely want it resolved though. As for the tail lights itself, friends who knows I've switched couldn't believe how much better the new lights look. A definite mod (IMO) if there is a fix for the "Bulb Failure" display.

As for the lights and harnasses, check out Dan at nallyjagparts on page 1 for pricing. As for labor, I was somewhat a guinea pig for my local shop so they charged me by the hour. After 11 hours, they stop working on it as they couldn't figure out the bulb failure problem in the dash.

I got my tail lights yesterday. I'll start on it tomorrow and I will let you know the solution to this problem.

For those who are thinking of changing to the LED tail lights, here is a night shot.

georgekale 08-27-2010 04:04 AM

I started late on the installation. Wiring was all wrong for the tail lights, back-up and fog lamps. I checked the schematic for 2007 and 2010 and they are different.
(tail lamps have black wiring, No color code)

The fog lamps would go on when reverse and vise versus with back-up lamps when the fog switch was on. Switched wires worked that problem out.
I had to configure the pins in the lamp connectors to correspond with the vehicle connector.

I noticed the fog lamps and reverse would flash on and off. Due to FET transistor overload. I had to install two relays to correct this problem.
I tried using 25watt 6 ohms resistors for the bulb failure for turn signals and brake lights.
That didn't work so I double up the resistors and that fixed turn signal problem. But I need to buy load resistors for the brake light out problem. So off to AutoZone, they only had cheap ceramic 25watts, I was looking for 50watts. NAPA store had none.
So I order 50watts 6ohms from Ebay. That will set me back a week or so.

I took some pictures and I'll post them on the forum over the week-end.

PS: They really make the car look vogue.

georgekale 08-31-2010 10:26 PM

I received the load resistor(50 watt 6ohm) yesterday. I spent half a day working on the stop lamp bulb failure problem, No results. I tried all kinds of resistors the 50 ohm 6ohms would cause the stop lights to flash and go out. Resistors cause overload in FET transistor in the integrated circuit (IC) which is built in (AJB) Auxiliary junction (fuse) block which is located in the back seat center cushion. I tried two 25 watt 25ohms installed parallel circuit to no avail. the only solution is to program the AJB. I will visit my local Jag dealer tomorrow and talk with one of the techs. Hopefully he can call engineering for special software download. I'll keep you updated on the results.

PS: You can get the warning information to go off on the instrument cluster. (center Pod)
By pressing the warning triangle on the navigation screen, message will pop up asking you if you want to clear the warning. You will have to do this a couple of times. Then your clock will appear. Note: once you turn off ignition and restart it will appear again. Then you 'll have to go through the process again.

ChiRedXKR 09-01-2010 03:31 AM

George or Ghost,
Have you tried to isolate the circuit? i.e reproduce the original light circuit alone without the LEDs (either using resistors or the actual lights themselves) and use that curcuit as a trigger only through a relay to the led lights? That might be able to feed the ecu the information its looking for and giving the tail lights the information they need.
Just a thought

georgekale 09-03-2010 12:27 PM

I have good news! I have solved the brake warning lamp problem. Two resistors: 25 watt 25ohms

and 10watt 10 ohms in parallel circuit. Connect the two resistors in parallel circuit one to the brake light wire and the other to ground.

Right and left side taillights.

Parts info: Radio Shack 10 Ohm 10W 5% Model: 271-132 | Catalog #: 271-132 and V-lEDS.com 25 OHM 25W LOAD RESISTOR.

The Tech at jaguar called engineering yesterday. Bad news there is no software code to program the change in the AJB.
So the problem is solved with the load resistors.

That's awsome. !!
George can you possibly give some pics or detailed description of the steps involved?
I think I'd be ready to take the plunge if I think I could handle the job myself.
They look GREAT!!

Here a link for photos of 2010 tail light upgrade. Everything work as it should.
Heat generated from the load resistors about 97-105 degrees. Not bad.
