Default 2010 LED Tailight Conversion Kit Updates?

Any updates on the 2010 LED Tailight Conversion for those who have pre 2010? I remember someone had done the swap but had the "Bulb Out" on the dash which I don't want. Just wondering if there is any conversion kit/wiring harness now to convert to the '10 LED Taillights without throwing any codes. Don't want to go through the route of load resistors as it could be a fire hazard.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

To be clear, you want to get the entire 2010 rear assembly and swap it out, right? Not just put in LED bulbs into your current MY tails?

If this is really what the 2010 rear looks like, then I'd be interested in doing this too.

Yup....I'm interested in the 2010 LED taillight assembly. Someone here did install them but got a bulb failure in the dash due to the wattage difference. Hoping some tuner will be able to come up with a conversion kit for this so there won't be any bulb failure in the dash.

I'm up for that. I like the 2010 XK tail lights that's next on my want list. My 2007 with one backup light is embarrassing, my friends keeps telling me you have a back up light out.
I talked with the sale manger about this and he agrees one stupid idea from Jaguar.

Actually that was what I was thinking about the last few days......with the wiring on pre '10 with only one side backup light, will the '10 taillights allow the other side's backup light to work.

Depends on how you wire it. You can easily do it during the install, That I'm sure of.
And I agree Im tired of people telling me one backup light is out

Looking at the harnesses in the catalog, it appears that they did change for 2010. There's a different bumper harness (for the outer taillights) and a different trunk lid harness (for the inner/reverse lights).

If I could get a local member with a 2007-2009 XK/XKR to guinea pig this... we might be able to orchestrate a group buy.

For all four lamps, forum members are looking at $1084.

For the harnesses, depending on which vehicle, $135 (XK) or $58 (XKR) for the outer taillight harness, and $62 for the trunk lid/reverse light harness.

Again, this does not appear to be a plug and play solution by any means. The harnesses in particular, I have no way of knowing if they'll be compatible unless I get a car in here to test it on. Technical items like these are way clearer when I see them in person versus digital photos and explaining over the phone.

That's a good price. I was quoted higher locally here. Wish you were in Chitown or I would definitely do it. Keep us posted if you find a guinea pig who's willing to try it and some tips if you were able to get it to work.

My '10 LED Tail lights came in. I decided to have the local speed shop install it for me and figure out the load resistors. They are swamped so might take a few weeks to get me in. Once installed, I'll post pics.

Hi Dan,
I will be willing to work with you on this project.
I am ASE certified master technician with over thirty years experience.
One project I have successfully completed was installation of Navigation system in my 04 XJ8, G12572. Fabricating wire harness and connectors. Note my jag did not have the new harness C2C 23835. Installed bluetooth plus made wiring harness for that also. I have tougbook and VCM and the latest update software V122 for programming.
My local Jag dealer told me that it was not possible. I proved that I could. They were amazed
My 07 XKR B11716. If you are willing to offer special discount for taillights and harness for my effort, I will provide pictures and detailed instructions. Let me know if your game. It could be win win for both of us.

Let us know if it's a go.....I'm going to hold off sending my car to the local speed shop for now. Might tackle it if it's not too difficult DYI. Thanks!

Hey guys,

George and I are putting something together right now in terms of making a kit for the 2007-2009 XK's. It might take us a couple of weeks to work out the details, but once we get our plans finalized, we'll post the group buy details here. Thanks for your patience!

My XKR is at the local speed shop with the 2010 tail lights to figure out how to retrofit them. They went ahead and ordered the load resistors so hopefully it will work without any "bulb out" in the dash once the resistors come in. They did mention I probably do need the 2010 reverse light harness for it to work due to the dual reverse light on the 2010. I contacted Dan to order this harness. He's a stand up guy and I would definitely recommend him if you need to order any parts.

Quick update.....the shop installed the first load resistors (not sure the watts/ohms) and they made the brake lights go crazy when pressing the brake pedal. They installed the 2nd load resistors (I assume larger) and everything is working fine but "Bulb Out" in the dash. They are still trying to figure out a way around it.
