5 months later...finally bought my car!!!
I started looking end of January for a 2008 XK convertible and know at least one sales guy in every dealer in the West + Texas, Florida and a few other states. Just purchased a 2009 XKR Portfolio Edition convertible right in my backyard. 
Wasn't really looking for the XKR, but everything else lined up and I got a good price on it. Man that thing is fast!!!
Mint condition (not just excellent) with 15,800 miles and 3 1/2 years of warranty, including the extended 2 year warranty. I pick it up in the morning. I can't wait (and probably won't sleep tonight)!!!
Thx to everybody who has answered my various questions. I really did a lot of diligence on this purchase.
