Bah, just mix 5w and 0w about 50/50. There ya go, 2.5w-20. (not really since they don't actually average, just create a duality)

It’s not just about MPG, the engines truly do have tighter tolerances where cold
start lubrication’s critical. In colder climes and real winters, 0 is best suited. In warmer climes, 5 is best suited.

I agree. The W rating of the oil vs the ambient winter temperature is actually the most important consideration of all when considering motor oil viscosity.

I was thinking that it goes without being said, that the tolerances in the engines of today are tighter. That's why we are down to 0W, 5W, and have left 10W30 and SAE 30. With global warming we are not getting the -40F or -40C nights anymore. And so, 0W is less required.
