Default Adaptive Headlight Fun - LH

Hi!

I've read some great threads via search to address my blinking AFS light that started today. I think the icon looks like a blinking hot cup of coffee but eh.

The right side headlight is adjusted normal. The left side is down. When i tried to calibrate in SDD, it indicated a stepper motor issue. I pulled both headlights, and swapped the AFS control modules from side to side but the left side continues to have the lazy eye. Right side still looks good.

This just started today... I really don't want to shove my headlight in an oven and open it up; but worst case, I can see if any of my car bro friends might be willing to let me stink up their kitchens lol. I already beat that **** like i was a baby beating a dog who owed me money. No joy other than that of the beating.

Anyone have a cheap drivers AFS headlight for sale?

I had a very similar problem when I first bought my car. pull the headlight and set it on the bench. Remove the two round access covers and take a look inside with a flashlight. the stepper sits on two pivot points (stick with a ball on the end). Sounds like one of them has come off the ball.

Those actually ended up being good!

While i was looking i had a few wires have their insulation fall off. So i did what @Ranchero50 did and separated the lens from the housing. Then i took the motorized assembly out. One of the wires to the little motor was broken in two and several had shifty sections of insulation. I cut out a decent bit, soldered in New wire sections, heat shrank a bunch, and when it was all back together, works awesome!
