Adding Sirius Satellite Radio

RE: Adding Sirius Satellite Radio
You cannot add what you want, as in factory satellite radio. It has to be ordered specifically. It would involve drilling the trunk lid, installing wiring harnesses etc.
I have seen some very nice installs of aftermarket ones into the ashtray area. Ashtray still closed, but when open, custom box trimmed in the same leather as seats etc. Very clean and looked factory. A GOOD stereo shop will be able to do it.

I have a factory installed Sirius radio and it doesn't work reliably. About 6 months ago, I subscribed to a 90 day free trial and the car could not reliably keep a connection. I spent hours on the phone with Sirius rebooting and resetting the radio without success. Finally gave up and didn't subscribe once the 90 days were up.

Can't speak for non-4G areas, but I've switched all my music over to my 4G, Samsung droid and a Bluetooth link. Use Spotify for tunes I like and new music; MP320 converted from FLAC for 50GB of recorded music, and even some radio stations for news. Actually, I never use the Jag head unit at all anymore except for the amp. CD's are bulky, satellite radio has no selections (just a streamer, like pandora), '07 Nav is obsolete, 98% of radio stations are crap.
Of course, out of 4G range could use Satellite. My car has it, but no interest in a subscription. Old tech. Never even got close to using my 10gig monthly Verizon data allocation.
I was interested in the "tesla" head, but realized that a $100 link solved all the same things as the $1K Tesla by using my phone. Not as pretty, but at this point I can't figure the money compared to almost nothing for the smartphone solution.

Don't waste your time on satellite radio The quality is not even going to be as good as an FM transmission. Best thing you just get a Bluetooth module hardwired and programmed in and the quality will be as good a CD. PM me I can help

I have XM on my 2016 Range Rover and boat. To say the sound quality is lacking is an understatement. But Its the only place I can get 1940's, First Wave, Classic Rock and the comedy channels for longer drives. I got to up my data plan on the phone and cancel the boat subscription because for $20 a month, per vehicle....its not worth it.

I had Sirius several times, and still have it as a demo on my new F250. Of course I perused many a station, and can truly say that after that first week or so, I've never tuned to a Sirius channel. My Android Auto along with the myriad radio stations around says Sirius isn't worth a danged thing to me. I'd not pay $1 per year for it.

I take it you are connecting via a Bluetooth Boviee? How is the sound quality........FM at least? Right now im using an old ipod and its good, but would like to stream with my phone for more choices.

Just finished my free 1st year and got a deal to reup. $7 a month for a year so being I use my car as a daily driver (16,000 milesnow) I listen to it all of the time. Enjoy it on road trips. I would not have used it when I had my XKR because I didn't drive much (2500 per year). I didn't think it was worth it but life has changed . So enjoy the ride. as the journey gets shorter.

Agreed on XM...horrible quality sound. My question for the masses was how is the sound quality with the Bovee Bluetooth adapter.

I listen to sirius xm for other reasons than musical sound quality.. I use the xm receiver built into both the Jag and LR…. they work fine. no issues with reception.
As for digital audio to analogue conversion, there have been significant improvements in recent years. A modern 2020 DAC is leaps and bounds more capable then a 2010 version. But its a car… not my living room or home. I’m not going to spend the money I have in my house for my audio system on the car…. in fact it costs more than the entire car.

Sirius in the XK
I also have just gotten the Sirius activated on our XK.
Sound quality is adequate, even with the top down.
I am having an issue with not being able to get a couple of channels that were in my package that I switched over from our Volvo.
I'm still going to look at the Android Auto option as an upgrade to the current infotainment setup.
Cheers and Merry Christmas to all.
