I had a flat yesterday and had to put the spare on. I was kind of embarrassed to drive it that way, but when I stood back and looked at it, the black rim actually looked GOOD against my silver car.
My existing rims have a little bit of curb rash on them, so I got to thinking about just replacing them with some aftermarket black rims.
Before I go any further, let me be clear. I don't want anything gaudy. I don't want to make the car look gangsta or ghetto. I just liked the look of the black rim against the silver car.
Which brings me to my question, doesn't Jaguar use a special bolt pattern? When I had my 2003 XK I remember people saying that it's hard to find aftermarket rims that will fit the bolt pattern.
Or... I could keep my existing rims and fix the curb rash using Chris Fix's method on YouTube, and just paint them black, but I think black rims look better with more space between the spoke so the calipers and rotors stand out
+1 on refurbishing your OEM Jaguar wheels in whatever shade of black you prefer. You're in NC, so I suspect that there are several shops in your area where you can stop in, see the work that they do, and decide on a color.
Although I think the Senta rims were the nicest look on the XKR, my car came with Kalimnos, which I painted black against my liquid silver with red calipers showing through, and I still like it seven years later. (Although cleaning brake dust is not my favorite chore)
One hint, although some people will frown for no reason.....
Get two extra rear wheels and put them on the front. They fit great with a 3mm spacer and then you won't need spacers and you won't mess up your scrub radius.
Tberg you are so right! Although I just got my car I've been shocked at how quickly those wheels get covered in brake dust!!!! But they sure do look good in black!

It pays to clean your wheels off the car thoroughly, anti ferros treat, wax and polish and then apply some gtechniq C5 wheel armour:
I also changed my pads to ebc reds with lower dust when I had my wortec discs/rotors fitted, but any that is created rinses right off with a hose, every 6-8 months I clean and top up the ceramic coating with this stuff:

Initially yes off the car, my paint correction/detailing guy took the wheels off in Nov 18 and did the insides
I've not taken them off since but drive up my ramps to clean the very inside and apply my reload product.
If you are having your tyres changed then it's also an ideal opportunity to clean if you've got a friendly tyre changing place. So I get them to take the first wheel and tyre off, I clean and seal the first whilst they move onto the second.
I recommend refinishing your factory alloy wheels. They are of very high quality and unlikely to go egg shaped or have other issues. If you like the design but want to add pops of color or do a blacked out look, those wheel refinish guys are SUPER used to doing that. If you say you want the barrels to match for a color change they absolutely will do that too (for extra cash). My wheel guy is awesome, and for a factory color redo, he's about $100 a wheel, more if you change color and want the barrels to match. Outstanding work too, and to my understanding, $100 a wheel is pretty standard pricing.
If you go to a mobile wheel refinisher, they recommend having the tires you want on the wheels. The paint is soft for a month or two. So if you want new tires or they are coming up, get them done first or wait a while. The good wheel guys will mention this though.
JAL,
I am assuming the question about the R performance emblem on the back of the rocker skirt is for me. One day while picking up some parts from Chris at Mina, I saw these sitting on a table at his shop. I had wanted to add a bit of color to the sides to break up all of the silver and had considered a red pinstripe. When I saw these sturdy badges, I asked Chris if I could buy them, but he just gave them to me instead. I still like them, they're subtle but give a hint of color.
tberg, yes it was sorry if that wasnt clear, still a newbie at this. I have similar color car as yours, silver so i really liked they way these stood out.
Do you have a way to send me any info on how I can get two? Not sure who Mina is....LOL.
JAL,
I live within a few minutes of Mina, so I can stop by in the next day or two and see if he still has them. You can google his website: Mina Galleries and is located in Reseda (Los Angeles), CA. Chris is very personable and answers his own phone if you call him. There are many items that don't appear on his website.

Yeah, well, I just did the technical measuring and such. I've not gotten any yet, although I DID buy some. Had to cancel the order because they shipped the XF offset wheels and not the XK ones.
Here's what you would get though, 3mm spacer, or even a 5mm spacer.......
Front Tires will be 19mm farther out from stock, but also 5mm farther IN, so that right there would negate 95% of Scrub Radius problems. Instead of having 20mm farther out and another 20mm farther out on the INSIDE..... that makes a mess. Plus, fatter tires on the front with a bigger dish just LOOKS so..... much..... cooler........
