Hi Mike,
I fitted this item from EBay UK last year and has been working fine

Heater Blower Motor Resistor FOR Land Rover Range Rover Sport / LR031677

I did also change the blower from a low mileage F type. Needed a cheap adapter from JLR to connect.
Post again if you need to go down that route

Default UK parts suppliers

Woo5ie, I appreciate your suggestion. Leaving aside that that particular ebay supplier has no stock and won't supply to Spain, I get your point. However on looking for other ebay suppliers most won't supply out of UK and if they do there are always customs problems which are difficult if not impossible to resolve for a non-Spanish speaking person like me. Ebay's Global Shipping Program doesn't always work with items sometimes being lost. At least that's my experience. I now try to buy from EU based suppliers, but even those take a while to respond and for the goods to arrive. In the UK you are lucky in that respect with much quicker supply chains but possibly not so lucky with the weather! So much for Brexit.

BTW I ordered from Autodoc which they say is on a 5 to 8 working day delivery period from Germany. We'll see.

Try this Mike - assuming you've got access to a soldering iron - link out the thermal fuse with a bit o' wire - also link out the two terminals on the K2313 MOSFET - this should run your blower at full speed - the blower motor is fed by a 40 A fuse. You could solder two wires to a smaller fuse and use that to link out the FET. or the thermal fuse.

At 37 degrees... I'd have replaced the resistor by now and enjoying the cool air...

McJag222, I followed your advice and put a wire link across the temperature "fuse" and the fan runs! Not only that, the rotary control works too. Thank you for that. It'll do for now until I get the proper thing next week. Too hot to work at present so the reassembly will have to wait until early tomorrow morning. I hope to have news about the touch screen after that.

guy, I wish I could have repaired the control module but I have no details of the temperature fuse and anyway we are in the two and a halfth world here. The link to Amazon in Los Rubios' post "How to fix the blower motor resistor module fo $5" doesn't work. If anybody knows the details, part no, supplier etc. it would be worth posting here for future reference.

I feel greatly relieved. Thanks to all for passing on your knowledge and advice.

Not sure what the thermal fuse looks like on the "resistor" unit, thermal fuses are used on many appliances including electric kettles and small fan heaters (most appliance repair shops carry them for a few dollars). The maximum junction temp on that FET is 150 C, so a fuse should be lower than that. Amazon listing:

McJag222, I have had a look at the Amazon web page you linked to and can confirm similar looking items can be found on the Spanish version of Amazon. I just have to open up the old module to find the temperature rating which I will post here once I have fitted the replacement controller. That should arrive before Amazon can get me a fuse even if I order it now. Thanks for sorting that out.

Correct, any 'wire' or 'tracer' will have some resistance. Disregarding the minuscule amount from that though, the resistor depicted is moot. (moo, like a cow's opinion. Nobody cares -- Joey)

Methinks the greyed out portion on the centre screen needed the feedback from the "resistor" module to the temp control unit to work correctly - maybe.

Default Results so far

Everything is now screwed back in place and seems to run properly although the trim panels are still off. There is both manual and auto control of the fan as far as I can tell without going for a drive. The air cooling and warming works. Woopee! The screen however looks the same as before (grey) but the "buttons" all seem to work and the air is directed to the different outlets according to the screen controls. Instead of changing colour they go from mid grey to beige or perhaps cream as the screen buttons are touched. It looks like a colour saturation problem to me and as I have never paid much attention to that page before I am not sure if this is a new occurrance or something the result of the screen being old. From what I understand there are no new screens available and even if there were they would cost a small fortune. I know this is straying from the original topic but is this grey appearance correct and if not what can be done about it?

Anyway now I am waiting for a new fan conrol module to arrive and fit probably next week. I am so grateful to all the forum members who have taken the trouble to respond to my post.

Probably not relevant and I expect you knew this already but: there is a settings page on the infotainment screen where you can choose the 'colour scheme' for the menus and buttons.

Actually no I didn't know. I'll try to find it tomorrow. I do know about brightness and contrast though. Thanks for the heads up.

All I see in the manual is brightness/contrast and auto dimming on/off. Maybe the 5.0 litre models have that.

Default Thermal fuse. More info

For those on the eastern side of the pond, these parts are available from RS Components who have operations in the UK and many countries in Europe including Spain. Part number (at least at time of writing) is:- 176-9378.
It's easier to Google the local address for RS rather than my giving links as they have different websites in each location.
