Default Am I the only one???

It turns my stomach to see the new Ford Fusion commercials. Compare it to an Aston(front) and there is definately a very similar appearance. Even the hood design has the same look. Can't believe it's a coincidence......it is just wrong and who are they trying to kid with this? I think it also looks stupid on the car because the front grill is so big. Maybe the designers were watching a bond movie when making new designs and said, "hey, I have a crazy idea..!"

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

Doesn't bother me what Ford does. What does bother me is people who think Jaguars *ARE* Fords.

I'll be the first to admit that Ford helped Jaguar tremendously, and changed them and their quality of product. They also wrote some big checks for new, modern manufacturing and computer systems. The cars we're driving today are a direct result of improved Jaguar designs. Ford and Jaguar did trade and share technology and information, but a Jaguar is *NOT* a Ford.

Ford does what it thinks will sell its cars. Whatever they look like on the outside, what matters with a Ford car is what's on the inside - the systems and materials they are made from. Ford trucks are awesome - I have an F250 I bought in 2000 and it is bulletproof. *EVERY* Ford car I have owned had *MAJOR, CATASTROPHIC* engine or systems failure, from timing chains to computers.

Whenever I see a Ford "quality" assertion in a TV ad, I believe that with their trucks. Their cars suck *bad*, unless they have changed since the early 2000's.

Renault are just as bad. They like to spread the rumour that their Laguna coupé "looks like an Aston Martin" at the rear.

Yeah right

Jaguar has picked up some Aston design elements also, including their chief designer!

Agreed, it is one of those family sedans that actually looks good in person. Who cares if it looks like an Aston? Everyone knows it's not one!

Aston and Alfa are the two big homage marques that's styling queues are used often today.

I guess. I too own a Ford truck and have owned 4-5 vehicles from them. They are really good and i've had no complaints.
I had a car approaching from behind the other day. Noticed it in my rear view and thought, cool a new Porsche...........not..........a new VW bug. At least with them I get it, that is Porsches' roots.
The idea of not being original is what I don't like. Jaguar XK does use the same designer as Aston yes, but they are "related" big brother/little brother. Maybe if they restyled the side, wheels, etc....I'd like the focus more. Made it an "R" edition or something. Just looks like it's trying to be something it definately isn't.
Different note, went to dinner with my family and parked behind me was a DB9.....I actually think my car looks nicer(maybe i'm biased...)

Chakka,

I agree; the Jag is better looking, at least compared to this DB9, which was modded with a Mansory kit. Not my taste. I think it detracts from the otherwise sleek styling. I also prefer the shape of the Jag's convertible top at the rear window.

That DB9 is really ugly, especially with those wheels and unnecessary rear spacers.
