Default Another F-Type on X 150 wheel question

Hello - new member but long time lurker here. I am about to close a long - distance deal on a 2012 XK, pending my own personal inspection. The car's chrome plated wheels need refinishing (probably have them stripped and painted) and there is one rear tire that will have to be replaced immediately, along with the rear shocks. Here's my dilemma: The local market is saturated with 2017 and 2018 F- type 18" -19" takeoff wheel and tire sets. Thus, asking price is $800 - $1400 for all four corners, new wheels and tires. Problem is the rear off -set. All these sets are ET 27 rears, 2012 X150s rears are 46mm. A swap pushes the rears out towards the fender by 19mm. I have read all the threads on F-Type wheels, but most do not state the year of the F-Type donor or the X150 recipient, and F-Type offsets apparently changed several times during production, and I assume vary between the R type and the NA cars. I took a piece of 3/4" (19mm) plywood down to the only dealer having an X 150 offered for sale, hoping to measure it, only to find the car locked up. So, the question: will the 19mm offset change push the tire too far out of the wheel well so it extends beyond the top of the wheel arch? I intend to install arch spats in any case. Thanks -

CJ could tell you about the offsets.
I can give you some advise on chrome; dont bother trying to strip chrome plated wheels.
Replacements will be much better way to go.

You can go outward about one inch (25mm) and inward about 30mm before you start hitting stuff you shouldn't hit. Of course, all this depends on which tires are on the wheel and the wheel width. The fronts can come out about 35mm and in about 25-30mm. Actually, the rear wheels on the XKR fit quite well on the fronts. Of course then to match the appearance, the rears would need to come out about an inch also. Lots of people use spacers, but I personally would only use spacers on the rears as to not mess up the steering geometry and scrub radius and such. Using a wider wheel on the front with the larger rear offset actually plants the contact patch right where it should be with the stock sizes.

Yes, stripping chrome is a monster to get completed decently.

Thanks, Q & C and Cee Jay. I should have mentioned that these are 8.5/9.5 wheels rather than the wider ones I have seen listed on the F-Types. I'll scrap the idea of stripping the chrome on the old wheels and reserve them for winter.
