Default Antenna booster

2007 XK

I've had my antenna disconnected for a while now and have the marine antenna running thru the back. But my wife doesn't like the reception it gets so I want to add some sort of amplifier to it. Does anyone know if I can use the power that goes to my original antenna to power a booster?

Not an expert here but it seems to me that ant power is only available when the antenna is going up or down. There should be any number of suitable power sources (power in acc and run) in the rear fuse box.

There's also an unused connector that has power on it. I don't recall if it directly accessible behind the left rear slatted panel in the trunk, or if its more towards the left rear taillight behind the trunk lining.
Its referenced in threads about the LED tailight upgrade, and also adding a GVIF for displaying gauges, by either the HKS Camp2, or Android media box. Do a search for those topics, and you'll find info on its location and polarity of the contacts.

I appreciate the help guys but I think KJ lost me with polarity of contacts. I can do most anything on these cars but electronics is like Russian to me. I was hoping I could just use the power connection that I'm not using to the factory antenna.

I'll look for the threads KJ was talking about. Can I simply measure the power going to connectors and if it's in a range use it? Sorry for being such an idiot on this topic.

I believe he's referring to the dead end plug and power source. Look at the attached on pages 6, 7, 8. Red/white wire is switched ignition.

Yep, that's it, thanks. Been reading and responding from my phone alot lately, so finding and inserting links can be problematical.
