Default Any Texas area rec for XK key fob replacements from dealership? Price/location

I had a super scary incident where we searched for 3hrs today looking for our 1 working 2011 XK key fob. We eventually found it but it made me realize how much I need to get a seconds one asap.
I'm in DFW but willing to travel to get this done..... I need a road trip. Can anyone give a suggestion and what was their experience?

Precisely.

I have recently ordered one from Jaguar.
The fob was supplied and coded and mated within the week. The key took 2 months.

Default Try Killeen

I purchased a replacement fob for my 2008 XK online for about $20. Found Killeen Locksmith to cut key and program fob. Cost was about $150.

Default Key fob

After buying a cheap one online Anand having a lock Smith unsuccessfully try to link it, and then having him supply another with no success, I went to the dealership who miraculously had one in stock.

Cost me $895 total..

You MUST have 2 fobs

My Second fob is aftermarket crap. Works in the slot only, so gonna need to get another. And not spending 600-800 bucks.

I’d think someone would have found a decent (aka better than crap) second key that is good enough as a backup.
My Indy guy (15 years only jags and LR) has the full on SDD with torx and engineering, so he can program them together. But was a quality key.

Mr12v and WhiteXKR’s
I completely agree but I realized I was in a situation yesterday that could cost me thousands to resolve. What are you referring "Mr12v and WhiteXKR", Are you saying they provide them? Please clarify

I ordered one from Amazon and took it to Killeen Locksmith. He cut the key and programmed the cod for about $150. Still working.

I was always paranoid about losing the only key I was given with my used XK, so I sense your concern... Now, I'm not affiliated with this guy, but I ordered (2) fobs from them about a year ago, and programmed them successfully using my SDD. https://www.ebay.com/itm/314249486401
I was fortunate in locating a capable locksmith (NYC area) to cut the physical blanks. I just wasn't - on principle - willing to part with 6 / 7 / 8 hundreds to get a spare key.
Incidentally, SDD has a solution for "all keys lost", but fortunately didn't need this option, though it's there.
Your locksmith should probably have success in programming these fobs; might be Chinese clones, but they worked for me.

Houston, March 2025 i accidentally ran one of my remote key fobs through the laundry....creating toast from electronics. In Houston i use Mike at champions Jaguar service https://championsjaguarservice.com/ i haven't found anyone more knowledgeable on Jaguar cars, its all Mike does, his shop has a few classics but mostly 2000 onwards all Jaguar models. Ive had a 95 V12 XJS and my tuned 2013 XKR serviced there both perfect.

You can call in advance, get the key purchased and delivered to him, drive down and as long as you book an appointment and let him know you are road tripping he will get it coded and functioning correctly befoore you drive back. Hes on the north side of Houston so somewhat convenient for you in DFW.

The Jaguar key showed up after about 10 days, cost around $700-$750 before anyone learned to spell tariffs.........it is always worth talking to Mike before you make any purchases or plans, he will lay it all out with contigency to avoid disappointment.

Thanks for all the stories and suggestions. It seems to be hit or miss with things from Amazon/Ebay..Has anyone purchased from Jaguar.oempartsonline.com? They claim their parts will be shipped from a dealer and guaranteed OEM new parts.

jaguar.oempartsonline.com

Transmitter - Jaguar (C2P17156)

2007-2015 Jaguar - c2p17156

$358.36

Pricey for sure but better than $800 from local OTC dealer purchase.

Jag Mac in Dallas will program for me.

Remember, if you buy one key that needs programming, it's actually at least TWO keys that need programming. All of the keys need to be divorced from the car (or new), and then all of them need to be programmed at the same time.

Your dealer wanted to charge you US$800 just for the fob?!?
Report them to Jaguar US.

Mine cost $359... Canadian. From the dealer.

that is just for the OEM fob. Local dealer wants $627 for just the fob. I didn't even ask the cost for Jaguar to program but he did say it will be extra.

There is a local shop that programs for ~$100.

This is inspiring me more and more to get going on the SDD home setup.
Just need to get ahold of a reasonably priced bench power supply.

Some members buy electronic grade power supplies as they say the voltage is cleaner. Since the car's battery cleans the voltage supplied anyway, I use a Schumacher 2-10-40-200 battery charger for all my SDD work. Set it to 40 amps and I can watch the power demand on the gauge, real-time (never went over 36 amps). I've done quite a bit with it also, programming, reprogramming and flashing all kinds of modules.
Never had problem one.
I can use my Schumacher charger to CHARGE things also, like batteries.
