Default B10AC-82 code jaguar XKR-S 2012 Cruise and Paddle Shifters not functioning

B10AC-82 code jaguar XKR-S 2012 Cruise and Paddle Shifters not functioning.- Can these be related, and any Idea of the root cause?

2012 XKR-S new purchase has left me with this Code, B10AC-82. Wiring all seems clean and intact. Is the next item on the list the steering wheel module ?

Thanks for any advise and input.

I did a Google AI search and got the following AI reply:

AI Overview
For a Jaguar X150 experiencing non-functional cruise control and paddle shifters, common causes include issues with the wheel speed sensors, brake light switch, or the ABS/ESP module. Other factors can be faulty ground connections, intermittent wiring problems, or a failing Engine Control Module (ECM). The vehicle may also require a specific setting in the infotainment system to enable the paddle shifters, or an issue with the gear selector itself.

Common Causes & Diagnosis
Wheel Speed Sensors:
A failure in one of the wheel speed sensors can disable cruise control and other related systems. Check for any ABS or ESP warnings on the dash, as these often indicate a sensor issue.

Brake Light Switch:
A faulty brake light switch can interfere with the cruise control system, as it's part of the circuit that allows cruise control to function.

ABS/ESP Module:
This module is crucial for the operation of both cruise control and traction systems. A fault within it can cause these features to fail.

Ground Connections:
Poorly connected or corroded grounds on the alternator bracket or power steering reservoir can cause electrical issues.

Wiring Problems:
Look for broken or damaged wires, especially near sensors or within the steering wheel harness, as this can interrupt the signals.

Paddle Shifter Settings:
Access the car's infotainment system to ensure the paddle shifters are enabled in the settings menu and are configured to your preference.

Gear Selector:
Issues with the gear selector, which engages the manual and paddle shift mode, can prevent paddle shifters from working.

Engine Control Module (ECM):
In some cases, a failing ECM can cause these systems to malfunction.

Troubleshooting Steps
1. Check for Warning Lights:
Look for any ABS, ESP, or Check Engine (CEL) lights on the dashboard, which can provide clues to the specific problem.

2. Test the Brake Lights:
Ensure all your brake lights are functioning correctly, as a bad brake light switch can affect cruise control.

3. Inspect Wheel Speed Sensors:
Examine the connectors and wiring for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

4. Confirm Paddle Shifter Settings:
Navigate through the infotainment system menu to confirm the paddle shifters are activated and set to your desired mode.

5. Check Grounds:
Locate and inspect the ground connections on the alternator bracket and near the power steering reservoir to ensure they are clean and tight.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Stuart

Thanks I did the same, I probably should have mentioned that. I was hoping for some real world history on this problem, AI paints a broad stroke on possibilities.

Thanks a million.

I have ordered two new steering wheel Switches, the main on the left and slave on the right, We had voltage pass the clock springs and into the left main switch, but zero voltage after that, I Also ordered the 2 wire harnesses, as the were only $40ish each, at that price, why not eliminate any possible issues
Harper Jaguar in Tennessee USA sell parts online pretty reasonable My dealer wanted $600;00 per switch. These are in black, the silvers were much cheaper.
Parts List :

C2Z13444 Cruise Switch $271.86
C2Z13443 Switch $248.12
C2P7725 Harness $47.42
C2S28246 Wire Harness $35.38

Holiday here this weekend, so they will ship from Jaguar to Harper, then Harper Ships to me, should receive next Friday then do the install.

I always like to update the forums I post on after the problem is solved, a lot of people don't, they need help ask for it, members spend valuable time trying to help, then OP vanishes.

So the replacement of both the left and right control switches on the steering wheel and the 2 harness wires 100% fixed the no cruise control and paddle shifters not working. There was voltage going into primary left switch but zero coming out, now maybe just changing the one switch might have done it, but being in there and all parts only costing $600.00 US it seemed worth it to replace all pieces.

Picking up car in a couple hours, can't wait to drive it using the paddle shifters !!!!!

Thanks to this wonderful forum for the input on possible reasons for the failure, It helped us diagnose the problem quickly.
