That looks really good, thanks for posting. I'll see if I can find part numbers and prices for those.

Got my grill sprayed gloss black , does look better.

No comments on the R-S badge please, i got the front and rear genuine R-S badges on ebay, never seen them for sale and was an impulse buy and stuck them on for the photo just to see what there like, will be removing the S.

How is your grille holding up to stone chips so far? What sort of primer/paint/lacquer was used and how many coats, do you know?

Holding up great, primer was plastic primer 2 coats, paint 4 coats a standard gloss black, makes it stand out a bit and then 3 top clear coats with a hardener. I had the mesh parts of my fogs silver to so they were sprayed the same. No chips so far, don't really tailgate much. Think the black look is better and looks good with my new eyebrow mods. What about your.

Cool, glad you're having better luck than me. Mine got stone chips within about 6 weeks. I hardly ever drive the car, let alone tail gate so not sure why this has happened, I guess the paint or (more likely) my methods used to apply them weren't up to scratch.

While stopping at the hardware store on my way home today, parked across the street was a 2010 XKR that had had some mods done that were similar to mine. So when I left the store I pulled up next to it and snapped a couple of cellphone pics. My car is liquid silver, and I've painted the hood vents and wheels gloss black. The other XKR was a darker grey with hood vents and wheels painted black. The other car had the side vents painted black and the grills and the lower valance painted black as well. The black grill was pitted very badly with much silver showing through. One of the photos below has a closeup but it's not as apparent as in the full resolution photo that I took.

Holy crap that's exactly how I'm doing mine. Almost done just waiting on the grilles to come in, I ordered the Jag black mesh and waiting on the side vents in black as well. I have some new unused Mina grilles in black if anyone is interested. I was extremely disappointed in them and decided not to use them

big henderson,
I thought the look of the black painted center bumper and the smaller border all the way around to the bottom grill was very interesting. It sort of reminds me of a cross between an F-type front grill and an XKR-S. I might be tempted.....

Yeah I agree...I'll post pics of mine but it's literally identical to the one you took pictures of....which kind of makes me sad. But also has reassured me on doing it, because the last few weeks of the bumper being at the body shop for paint has had me anxious

Nice cat. Adamesh tell me the grilles they sell are the OEM ones, although they didn't give me part numbers and I thought it was probably a bit cheeky to ask. They don't list different options for the 4.2 or 5.0 cars so I guess it's one set fits all. The Jaguar part numbers for a 4.2 are not the same as those for a 5.0, even the earlier 5.0 cars with the similar headlights etc, so I'm not sure what you would order from a dealer to get the black grilles.

Adamesh did claim though that their pricing was close to the Jaguar dealer prices though but it'd be slightly tricky to verify that.

Here's an email from Gaudin Jaguar to me concerning the black mesh oem grilles.

PART# C2P8121 YOU HAVE SELECTED WILL FIT UP TO 2009 XK CARS, AND YOU HAVE A 2010. THE CORRECT PART NUMBER FOR THE GRILL (BLACK) IS C2P21130. THE PRICE OF THIS GRILL IS $256.37. IF YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO UPDATE YOUR ORDER WITH THE CORRECT PART, OR TO CANCEL YOU ORDER, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

THANKS,
DAVID.
