Default Blue Driver OBDII

Has anyone had experience using the Lemur Blue Driver OBDII tool on their XK? If so, are there any caveats to be observed? Any danger of damage to the electronics on the car? The manufacturer claims that there is no power drain with the unit plugged in when the car is not running - comments? My car is always on the CTEK battery maintainer when not being used - my concern would be leaving the Blue Driver plugged in when the car is away from home (say, on a driving trip).

I'd be grateful for information from anyone familiar with this unit.

No experience with that unit, but the one I bought, at 1/3 the price, seems to do most everything that one lists. It shuts down by itself, so no battery drain. I leave it plugged in all the time in my Lexus (I have an HKS Camp2 plugged in all the time in the XK).
The only time I had an issue was when I plugged it in and turned it on in the XK while driving. Must have put a surge or drain on the circuits, as a whole boat load of errors came up on the dash, lit up like a Christmas tree, and the car went into limp mode. Pulled over, stopped, and shut off the car. Restarted, and all was fine.
So my only warning is to not plug in, or unplug, an OBD-II device while the car is running (leaving it plugged in, and turning it on while the car is running, doesn't seem to cause any issues).

EDIT - This is the unit I have:

Amazon Amazon

No experience here with that unit either, Sov211, but have read reviews on this one which is a little less expensive - OBDLink LX.

And of course there are several for around $15 that have on off buttons (but you have to remember to that of course and they are out of sight/ out of mind for me.)

Thanks for this input, gentlemen. My main concern was whether plugging in this unit would cause any negative effect on the electronics of my XK. I gather from your answers that the answer is NO (although neither of you have used this exact device). I have taken note of the warning regarding plugging it in while the engine is running. Yesterday the owner of an X-Type demonstrated how this OBDII reader worked on his car, and I was impressed. I have already ordered it (before asking your opinion - a backwards move, I recognize). I will report on it once I receive it and set it up. Thanks for your responses, much appreciated.

The model you chose gets very high marks. I'm confident you'll be happy with it.

One word of warning, I have a matchbox sized OBD reader that I keep in the glove box in case I have issues while out and about.

I was using it a lot recently while I was getting my exhaust and tune sorted and left it connected a few times by mistake. On one occasion I managed to knock it with my foot as I got in to the car and snapped the OBD socket clean off. The socket is held in place by 4 little plastic tabs and all but one broke off.

I actually managed to get a second hand socket and swap it over this weekend but just thought I would mention it.

I think that the socket remains live as well as I would see the lights on the OBD unit flashing when I got in to the car. That may just be because the car is in convenience mode but I can check if you want.

Thanks for that warning. Carefully entry is always a good idea.

What software do you use for this OBD reader?
I've bought one iCar V2 and I'm waiting delivery.

That's the way it should be, but unfortunately not all models act so nicely, arrrgh.

I don't have it yet, so I cannot answer until I use it - but I will.

If you have an Android phone, I would recommend not using the software that comes with it and using this instead:

I purchased Torque Pro for my Galaxy 6S. If I remember correctly it cost about $5. It is very well thought of and you can customize the gauges. It also reads codes.
