There is a 2012MY XKR for sale locally here with adaptive cruise so they do exist.

Yes. Adaptive cruise is a costly option when new, over $5,000. The 2010 models had them as standard, but other years was the option available. Not a lot were installed due to cost. Most cars that are NOT a 2010 do not have ACC.

Hagerty also recently sent me a similar suggestion to bump my agreed price coverage from $25k to $30k. In the unlikely event I total the car, I’m just interested in covering my basic investment so won’t be following their suggestion.

I might be one of the few car owners that doesn't use Cruise Control. As a matter of fact, I have never even tried mine to see if it works! lol

You're the guy that only goes to the Garden Market once a month anyway, right? 12,000 miles in twelve years doesn't present much opportunity to try much of it at all.

Just for reference, here some context from Europe:

I paid almost exactly 40,000 Euro when I bought my XKR with 43,000km on the clock end of last year. Hadn’t even seen the car except for a few pictures and the information that it had been pre- owned by one person in Switzerland only. Not very surpisngly, I had to replace the battery, needed two new tyres (knew about this), and faced the infamous duckbill-caused “rain in the passenger footwell” issue. Otherwise everything’s just fine, and I am happy having sold the 991 Turbo and returned to an XKR. Must be kind of a love affair…

Btw, the car was checked by my local dealership AFTER acquisition and its excellent condition as well as value for money (by local pricing standards) confirmed.

I have ACC in my '07 NA X150. I've only been able to use it once, on a open highway with little traffic (where it wouldn't matter much anyway). It was no better than basic CC, and perhaps worse, since ACC kept me at the speed of others.

Otherwise, typical traffic on SE Florida's Interstate 95 has to be seen to be believed. ACC is completely useless when you're separated by 4 carlengths (at best) at 70 mph. If you open up more than that, the space will be filled by another car in moments. I made the mistake of switching it on once, and the car immediately slowed to open up the space between. Not a good idea where normal traffic flow in dense traffic is 70-80 mph, and 60 mph gets the finger. Bit of a buttpucker moment.

Not really a useful tool.

All I can tell everyone is if you drive across the USA, adaptive cruise is a GAME CHANGER.
(Downside: it's useless on LA freeways. Why? Because, for safety, it places too great a distance between you and the car in front of you. People are constantly cutting in. No fun.)

Fairly correct! But I wouldn't take my Jag to any Garden Market. Only out for cruising on a highway or to an upscale restaurant where I can choose where the car can be parked. But very true...I'm the guy that has very little use for cruise control...oh...14,000 miles now.

I use my ACC a huge amount, especially around town, mainly to keep from straying too far over the speed limit.

As soon as I hit the urban speed limit +10km/h after leaving home I set it then it just needs a prod with my thumb to resume.
