I have an '07 XKR Coupe that began to develop a very disturbing noise at start up about 2 months ago. Can't really describe it, but it sounds terrible! Only does it at cold start ups, if you turn the car off and then restart within the next hour or so, it did not make the noise.

Anyway, I take it to my buddy who is the GM of a Ford dealership. He correctly diagnosed that the problem has something to do with the camshaft phasers. He sent it to the local Jag dealership and they seem to be dragging their feet on the repair. He says its a pretty big job - listed at something like 30 hours or better. He also told me that there was a Jaguar service bulletin about this problem.

My baby has just over 41,000 miles on it. Fortunately I had purchased a 5 year 60,000 miles extended warranty from Zurich just after it went off factory warranty!!

Anyone else had this issue? And if so, how did it turn out? Car good as new?

The last episode they had with the timing tensioners was more than enough.

 

are you talking about the vvt unit ,because if it is that don't you get a check light on ,
