Default car body in dark gray with an original speed pack full painted in black aesthetic kit

Hello everyone, I have a 2007 Jaguar xkr in dark gray with an original speed pack aesthetic kit. After a few years I decided to do a complete paint job to renew the appearance. The painter says that the car will look better in gray with the mirrors painted entirely in black, the front grille in black and the kit also in black. What is your opinion? Have you ever seen a car painted like this, will it look nice, will it be a change that will ruin the look of the car?

I dunno about the aero parts black, but the mirrors and grill should be fine. Painted aero makes it look taped on, like it's not a part of the vehicle.

Thank you for your opinion. That's exactly my impression, even if I paint the mirrors in a different color than the car, I have a lot of doubts. Another opinion is the silver window trim, will it be ok to change to black?
many thanks

I have the dark grey paint with silver trim and I don't mind it. I also have the hyper silver Nevis wheels and I like those also. What I have done in the past is use some black electrician's tape to cover the shiny trim temporarily to see if I like it or not. Once you do the windows, where to stop? Cover EVERYTHING that is shiny? That's a lot of black. Will it blend with the wheels you have?

It depends on what you want it to look like, not what the paintshop guys says. He's only making suggestions, probably based on his tastes and you seem to be questioning those rather strongly

I would also keep the aero pack the same colour as the body to make it look not added on. The XK is a smooth shape and for me benefits from the bit of chrome that came from the factory. I would also keep that. I'm a bit old school though - growing up, base model cars had black trim and it still looks a bit bland to me on anything but the most racy of cars. Also, what are your thoughts on the wheels? For me, black looks like black holes from any distance over 10m. Cars should have visible wheels! Darker grey and I would keep the chrome grilles, but silver, both black or silver works. Mirrors - body colour or carbon wrap if it has to be different.

Maybe "photoshop" some trails and see what you like.

Be interested in seeing the dark grey car with the speedpack body coloured grey first. Didnt the speedpack only come on the early XKRS and in black ? Apart from the later XKR with facelift front bumper. I have a slate grey xkr (2007) and was thinking if I got the speed pack like on the early xkrs it would look weird body coloured? Best kept an almost satin finish black.. then do gloss black grille and around the window trims. Thinking the chrome jaguar panel on the trunk/boot lid on the later xkr is nicer body coloured to.. paintable?

Why not go to the picture thread and see what other people have done. The link to the thread is the first stickie. There are probably several hundred posts there.
