Just for anyone who might be looking for a simple solution for getting Apple CarPlay or the Android equivalent into their vehicle. This is a unit I found on line. It's not actually a full head unit, it can connect into your system either via Aux in or via the FM transmitter. As my XK doesn't have an Aux in (and FM transmitter / receiver is horrible for sound quality) I got the local sound guys to wire this in, which they did by wiring it directly into and FM channel (don't ask me how but it works great with no loss of quality). By doing this i keep all the functionality of the infotainment system but I have CarPlay and all that it provides. The unit itself is really good quality and only cost around US$230. It does everything it said on the box and literally was plug and play (well it was on my previous XF which had an Aux in). It actually looks okay in situ and doesn't really look like an add on I think. It supports both wired and wireless CarPlay and just automatically turns on and connects when I start the car and has good Bluetooth technology so quality is great. I can run my phone calls either through the car Bluetooth or the CarPlay - I choose the CarPlay as the sound quality is better. There are a few different brands of this sort of thing but I chose this one - no particular reason other than the reviews all seemed pretty good and authentic. One of the brackets in the box conveniently was the same size as the opening for the cigar lighter recess and it just wedges in and is solidly situated. Anyway - if you're looking for a non invasive CarPlay / Android solution, this works.
Appears to be a rather awkward location, particularly if you want to either see/use the screen or climate.
If streaming music’s all you desire, there’s various solutions for that, including OEM. If CarPlay or android auto’s what you want there’s also integrated replacement screens for that as well.

Agreed, it doesn't look OEM. There are other options.
This one if all you want is music:
Bovee WMA 1000 bluetooth device will work with you car to stream music. I will display your songs, uses steering wheel controls and no change to OEM appearance or function. This should work for the 07-09 models. I don't know about the 2010 onward (are the cables installed?)
OldJaguar also has this which is a better/best solution imo because you can use updated navigation. I did a review here and explain why I chose it over the Tesla screen:
yeah, I did research all of those but just felt this option was much less invasive and much lower cost (being a tight ***)
Your car, your money, your choice and hope I wasn't implying anything else. It works for you and that's all that matters. Others will like your solution too. I only comment on threads like yours with the alternatives for the "next guy" who wants AA or CP so they can see their options. The "haters gonna hate" reference was specific to the Android Tesla style screens. Man that brought some interesting discussion:-)

I really only posted it as there seemed to a number of solutions on here but I hadn’t seen one like this so thought it might work for some others as well.

[QUOTEI'd like to have Android Auto on the main screen. Is that JagWrangler's unit or Cambo"s? I don't see it listed on the JagWrangler website.[/QUOTE]
That’s Cambo’s. I have it and it’s awesome…
