Default Cataclean on high mileage 5.0?

I bought my XK 5.0 a couple of months ago and given that she's done around 97K miles, I took the precaution of getting both the transmission fluid/filter changed and also the diff oil.

My next thought is whether it's worth running some Cataclean through the car to remove any deposits etc in the engine/fuel system etc.

Has anybody used this product and can comment on how effective it is or whether it's even a good idea to use it at all?

Thanks,

Brian

without knowing anything about the product, i would only state that if you really like precautions, removing the cats to inspect and clean them, and not involving the engine in this endeavor in any way, is a pretty good precaution to take.

personally though i have no problem with those kinds of products, and i have used a fuel system cleaner twice now, but i'm more concerned about injectors than cats. cats degrade over time anyway, you get a light, you can't pass inspection, whatever. misbehaving injectors can torpedo your engine in a matter of minutes.

It claims to clean the whole path - so including injectors, hence my query.

I had a CATALYST BELOW THRESHOLD code. Dude at the shop said just use a can or two of Cat Cleaner (he stated to use a certain brand, can't recollect it right now).
I did use the one can and the code disappeared like two weeks later. It's been two years now without the code returning.
I DID have an injector fail, which I'm sure fouled the catalyst a bit. It happened on the same bank.

CJ, was the injector failure before or after you used the cat cleaner?

I had to use the cleaner BECAUSE of the failed injector. It worked for a few years or whatever I said.
But NOW, since I mentioned it, I got the code come back TODAY. I shouldn't have mentioned anything.
Regardless, I will again use some Cat Cleaner, if I can remember which brand I bought. OR I could use CataClean.

I checked the data on Torque Pro..... values are supposed to be below 15 volts, mine is reading 15.32 volts. Therefore, I don't think it'll take much to get back within specs.
