Default Check Engine Light: Code P0491

I got this a few days ago. It comes up as "Secondary Air Injector System ( Bank 1)". I could not find it referenced on the X150 forum, but saw a couple references on other forums.

I reset it and will see if it returns. Note the car is running fine and this is the only code.

Just checking to see if anyone here has experience with it.

Thanks!

This is from TSB JTB00139 and your car falls in the VIN range:

Situation: The engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate with the possibility of Diagnostic
Trouble Codes (DTC) P0491 or P0492 being stored.

Action: In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to
reconfigure the Engine control module (ECM).

TOOLS:
IDS with latest IDS DVD; software first available on IDS DVD115 Patch File 4
Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
CAUTION: A Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during diagnosis / module programming.
1. Connect the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.
NOTE: IDS must be loaded with software release DVD115 Patch File 4 or later.
2. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session by entering the correct VIN for the current vehicle.
3. Follow the IDS prompts to read the vehicle configuration.
4. Select 'No' when prompted 'Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes?'
5. Select 'tick' to continue.
6. Select the 'Vehicle Configuration' tab when Content Model is displayed.
7. From the Vehicle Configuration menu, configure the 'Engine control module' by selecting from the dropdown menu:
• 'Module programming' > 'Configure existing module' > 'Engine control module' (S-TYPE, XJ) / 'Powertrain control module - Petrol (XF, XK)
8. Select 'tick' to continue, following all on-screen instructions to complete this task.
• IDS will return to the Vehicle Configuration menu when completed.
9. Exit the current session.
10. Disconnect IDS and the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.

U102 – thank you so much for this. That is good to understand.

I have an appointment at my local jag shop for an unrelated item, and I'll show them this. I sincerely appreciate you posting it.

Thank you and all the best.
