Default Console mouse fur

Might be a dumb question but, is there any purpose to the black "mouse fur" surround around the cupholder? I looks like something is supposed to mate with it.

Duh, I was trying to slide it without success. Finally figured out it is a lift-and-slide. Oh well, I'll get it all figured out eventually.

Uh, it DOES slide without lifting it. You just have to pull the release.

Mine seems reluctant to just slide, maybe I'll see if there's some extracurricular stuff residing in the track.

Different generation from what we have so it's hard to say. On my 2007 X150 you lift the latch and it'll slide back without lifting.

Ah! I didn't notice the X100. I saw the avatar but didn't think anything about it.
I seriously cannot remember how the armrest in my XK8 operated.

In a different thread he said he now has both an X100 and an X150.

I little frustrating for me is returning it to the forward position. It's a bit awkward to lift the latch and slide.

It seems I have to lift the lid a tad too.

I don't like to do this while driving because I have to reach back. Is it me or the nature of the design?

..-but not forward if you don't lift it a bit, on my 2007 XK.

Glad to see I'm not that much of an outlier!
