Default Coolant link and clamps

Hi guys. I have a small coolant leak coming from the reservoir hose.
I'm thinking of cutting the hose ends off and putting a longer extension tube in. Bad idea? Better ideas?

Not worth "fixing". Part number is C2P2137. Prices vary greatly. I found one from Autohaus AZ. $127.00 shipped.

What Sean said, even if it was more expensive. If that part oozes through, the entire hose is about to fail.

Yep. All better now. Part came this afternoon. 10 minute replacement. Worth every penny.

My hose started leaking on a Friday and with plans for using the car over the weekend I took a quicker (and less expensive) approach.

I spent ~ $10.00 for some new brass and made a splicer. I cut the original hose at what seemed to be the two ends of the original splicer, slid in the new shiny piece and tighten it down with two fuel injection clamps. These clamps do not cut into the hose. No leaks, life is good.

Out of curiosity I took the old fitting/hose section and sliced it open to inspect. I found that rather than the hose leaking the splicer material had started to degrade and was no longer a solid piece. I concluded that the fitting was the culprit and feel reasonably certain that the hose has many more miles of life left.
