Default Coolant tank

My coolant tank started leaking at 113K miles and 16 years of age I wasn’t surprised.

I replaced it yesterday with an aftermarket unit at ½ the price of oem.

Several things I noticed were, the new unit weighed quite a bit less than the original unit.

Maybe the material is different or the thickness but it is quite a bit lighter.

The new unit has a 140 kp cap, the original has a 120 kp one.

The new unit came with a sensor, the original has the cavity in the base for one but there was not one present, nor is there any wiring dangling around. The car is a 2008 xk, maybe they were not fitted back then.

I hope this one holds up for a few years.
