Default Curious as to how many 2010 XKRs made it to the U.S.

So I contacted Jaguar, never suspecting that this owould be confidential information. I just got an email back regarding my question:

"I appreciate your inquiry. I regret to advise we do not release this information, so as not to unfairly value certain vehicles over others. If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-4-JAGUAR, option 9.
Sincerely,

To obtain the best info requires some digging and combining of sources.
I can certainly tell you that JLR NA is not at all forthcoming with any info such as this. (I have never once gotten a useful response from them.) However, I have been able to get the same info requests answered from JLR GlobalCR, and in fact just sent in another inquiry to them today.

As for your question it's not complete info as I am unable to dig down into separating the XK/XKR sub-groups, but you should start with Wiki where you will find the total number of "XK's" (read XK/XKR/XKR-S/GT) by
calendar year.

Total sales are from 2009.

Year - Number Sold
2009 - 6039
2010 - 5454
2011 - 4894
2012 - 4166
2013 - 3223
2014 - 3341
2015 - 492
2016 - 3
Total - 27,612
Units sold

Then go to the website "goodcarbadcar.net" Jaguar XK Sales Figures - GOOD CAR BAD CAR
and here you will find the US & Canadian sales by calendar year, but not necessarily by MY. You can then put percentages to XK vs XKR, Coupe vs Convertible etc. Do all the math and you should be fairly close to actual numbers for what you are looking for.

Interesting, I bought my 2013 XKR new in February of 2016. At that time there were at least three other XKR verts available. One in Lake Bluff, IL (a suburb of Chicago), one in NY or NJ and one in Tuscon, AR. By the way, I spoke to each of the three dealers. Including mine, that makes at least 4 that were sold in 2016. Mine was in Thousand Oaks, CA.

So, take the numbers in the above post with a grain of salt.

Taking Jagrags numbers at face value, what's interesting is the relatively constant rate of decline, and I'm assuming this is total new-car car sales of a given model year, from Sept 1 to August 31 of the following year.
What it tells me is: this is a great time to buy a 14-15 XKR. Who is possibly looking for these under-selling cars, at this point, other than people like us - most of whom already OWN an XK/XKR?
