Default Dash cam

Will this also fit my XK?
I like it as I don't want an external mounted dash cam next to the mirror.

No idea on the video quality of that thing, and that in my opinion is the most important thing with a dashcam. Well, looks are important too.

I fitted the very popular A118C on my Abarth. Thanks to its wedge shape, I think it was rather discreet when installed, looking something that might've been factory-fitted. Also, while driving it was almost entirely hidden behind the rear view mirror.

I've also fitted the later
A119S A119S
(+
hardwire kit hardwire kit
) on the XK, and on the XK it is completely obscured by the rear view mirror from where I'm sitting. I don't have a higher-res photo with me right now, but it's barely noticeable here:

When I get home, I can upload a day/night sample clip. For now, the only one I've uploaded is this amazing feat:

I can't see it but the pictures are to far away from the car.
I want the integrated as it looks a little more OEM and wires are all hidden.

I get it. I want the same. I've seen this one already and the only thing that kept me from buying was that is hangs lower than the mirror.

Maybe this isn't an issue for you but it is for me. The mirror alone obstructs certain views for me. Not significantly but I do have to bob my head around at certain traffic lights etc. This may or may not add to my problem.

I'm 6'3" and the seat is as low as it can go.

If that's not your issue, I would absolutely give it a go. Quality will be there and you have buyer protection.

I have to believe there are smaller ones that can butt against the escutcheon and completely obscure the wiring also but I haven't hunted for one.

EDIT: Consider getting the dimensions from the vendor and cut out a piece of cardboard, hang it from the escutcheon to see if it has issues. Also, as it was made for the XJ and XF, not the XK, there still may be a fitment problem. I would ask them about that too.

here's an example where although none are for the XK, there are 3 different escutcheons to fit.

Doesn't look like I actually have any exterior photos of the car where the camera is clearly visible. In daylight it's mostly obscured by reflections, and in wintertime it's mostly dark now anyway.

Anyway; according to the part catalogue the XF and XK rear view mirror stem cover part numbers match:

This camera you linked on the UK forum seems to at least have some reviews, and the specs state it has a Sony IMX323 sensor so it's probably good (though supposedly not as good as the IMX291 on the A119S and won't do 1080p@60fps). It also seems like it has much less of a hump than the other one, and the camera itself seems to have great reviews.

Cee Jay advised this is the same subject I started a thread on.

Has anyone tried the SUPA CN-49 offered on Amazon?

Amazon Amazon

I likethe idea that it is hidden in the mirror's exctucheon but the info does not indicate if it fits an XK or not.

It doesn't wrap around the mirror stem like the ones noted above so it's open facing the rear So I would say it will "fit" but will it look OEM is the question.

peterv8, have you looked at anything like the K1S? It is not totally hidden but, because it only involves having the tiny camera itself on the windscreen, it should be even less noticable.

K1S 1080P Dual Car Dash Camera

Maybe someone else who has experience with remote dash recorders can input as well.

NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought one of those twin camera units last year. Totally dead right out of the box. I got refunded and then checked some reviews on it......... LOTS of buyers got refunded because of faulty units.
It is a really good concept, but the product SUCKS.

Since the XF cover fits the XK, is there anything out there for an XF?

Bonus points for thinking outside the box.

Just know that ANY dashcam is better than none. Hard to comprehend someone not having one these days.

Ended up buying this one!

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mini...311.0.0.2AbnGp

It comes with a hardwiring kit but instead of having to get the cable down to the fusebox I was thinking of taping into the wiring of the interiour lighting as there should be a 12v live.:-)

Anybody know which one is 12v live when igintion on? I could measure but thought I ask here first if it's a good idea!:-)

I wound up going with a Garmin Dash Cam 55. It has a small form factor w/magnetic mount and some voice command options. It also has lane departure, forward collision, red light, and speed camera warnings built in. Kind of nice upgrade features for the XK. The video quality is really good too.

Sorry, not trying to sound like an ad for them but I'm really more pleased with it than any of the others I've had.

The Red/Green should be 12V when the car is powered on - it's marked as "Delayed_Pwr".
