Dead space in wheel at 12' o clock. Going in tomorrow
Recently had some...that is ALOT of work done on my 12 XKR when one of the actuators started ticking. Jaguar OK'd the work to remove the tick and they had to drop the engine, replace the chain, and then the chain tensioners were not working again so replaced them as well.
Picked the car up and everything was awesome... sounded great...they even took the "creak" out of the wheel when turning the wheel at slow speeds heard best when backing out. However i noticed at 12' o clock there was 1-2 degrees of play where it felt like the steering wheel was moving but the steering mechanism wasnt - just no resistance at all. I thought well i will give it a few days to see what i think...
The worst came at 70mph on freeway. Small degrees of adjustments are needed to keep the car under control and i thought i was moving the wheel a ton to keep it straight.
someone told me with know-how its like just a "loose pinch bolt for one of the joints". Im hoping thats just it. Ever have this happen to your XK?

Hey Loth,
So happy you got your car back, it's been a while, and I've been checking the posts each day to see if Jaguar fixed your problem. While I have not had that play in either of my XKRs, I have had that on my '72 Pantera, and with manual steering, you really notice it. It is something that will be fixed on my car during its engine/fuel injection transplant over the next couple of months. However, in your case, it certainly seems like some kind of adjustment, especially in light of how many times your engine has been dropped into and out of your car in recent weeks. Take it back and let them fix it, and be happy!
