Default driver's seat back

Has anybody ever had a problem with the seat back not coming up. I was told I have a burned out motor and a broken bracket. The dealer said there are only two such brackets in the world. One is in Dubai and one is in Belgium. This must be a very rare event. The cost of the repair is $1500.

Was the seat working when you took possession of the car?

Was there any kind of warranty represented by the selling BMW dealer in So. Carolina?

Does the seat slide forward and back?

Are there 2 independent motors in the seat that drives the seat back/forward and seat back up and down?

I would think the seat would be removeable. The bracket replaceable once secured and defective motor just mounted and reconnected with removeable electrical connectors. Thus a DIY job saving lots of $$$$.

It was working fine when I got the car. All other functions work well. I got a 60 day warranty. Had I known it was going to be that much money to fix I would have done it myself but having dropped it off and taken a loaner XF I decided to let them do it. I wonder how common this failure is? I keep nothing in back that could have caused this to happen. If part support is so low it must be rare or is it so common all the spares are used up?

Default Seat backs all the way back

I'm having the same problem. I have had 3 mechanics refuse to touch it. Guess I'm going to have to take it to Jaguar. So frustrating. One went out one week and the drivers side went out about a week later. Ive followed up on fuses, etc, suggested here... NADA.
I'm kinda short so I have to drive with a pillow behind my back now.

I had the same problem in my 2007 about 4 months ago. Backs would move down but not go up. Dealer reprogrammed the seat modules and all was good.
