Default Drove the xk from NJ to Newport RI..

...And what a fabulous drive it was. I was due for a relaxing vacation and decided to spend a week in Newport Rhode Island and boy am I glad I did. Newport has it all: beaches, boating, museums and amazing amount history. While I was there I visited the Tennis Hall of Fame museum and right next to it was a gem of a car museum called Audrain: http://audrainautomuseum.org The owner is a bazillionaire car nut with an amazing collection of cars, which he rotates on a regular basis. Each car looks like a 100 point concourse restoration. [His daily driver is a new Bugatti- poor slob] My favorite car in the collection was the Delahaye. This was truly one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Simply gorgeous. Note* I saw two xkr's while visiting there..quite a rare treat indeed.

I also visited the five mansions that is maintained by the Historic Preservation Society. Let me just say> they were stunning. Newport Mansions | The Preservation Society of Newport County
I also visited the National Museum of Illustration where they had lots of original Norman Rockwell painting for exhibition. What a treat that was. HOME - National Museum of American Illustration

If you are looking for a great place to visit for a few days...put Newport on your bucket list. Two thumbs up.

The pic below is my Jag parked along Ocean Avenue and the beautiful Delahaye.

Did you drive along the coast where all the mansions are? That's a great drive, a few good beaches in Newport as well. Lots of "old money" in that town.

Last time I was in Newport I took my boat. After hearing what a great drive you had I'll have to go again by Jag. Did they have any Jags in the museum?

In the collection that I saw there were no Jags [there were mostly American cars this time around], however the owner does rotate his collection and there are Jags to be seen. Best bet is to visit the website and give them a call about when they will show the Jags. Here is a link to the Classic Collection: http://audrainautomuseum.org/exhibition/classic/
