EGR & intake manifold
I've got that problem on my XF 4.2 SV8 where the crappy plastic plug on the vacuum line to the intake elbow failed and the hose wobbles about and is basically falling out. The car has been off the road for about 6 months whilst, in between the relentless bouts of rain and work, I've been battling to get the bugger off the back of the supercharger.
Finally I've managed to get it off, but whilst fiddling around inside the engine bay I found a few places where some seals have failed, so I've also got the RH cam cover, the coolant thermostat connection to the engine and the supercharger off.
From where I am now replacing the intake manifold seals seems like it would be straight forward as all the bolts are now exposed. My question is whether I should replace them "since I'm here" or should I leave well alone as disturbing them might create more agro than its worth?
Also the EGR seems a bit "sticky", is there a way to bench test if it's working properly before I try and reassemble the engine?
I've posted this to the XF forum already, since however there's hardly any XF SV8's around it's hard to find useful information on it, but it's basically the same engine as the XKR so I thought I'd try here too.

@fivel , good thinking. Do you have the engine workshop manual?
At 120000 kms I had those seals replaced. (I’m at 160,000 now). And the manifold cleaned.
Ditto for the EGR valves. Just clean them. I haven’t bothered replacing them yet.
Yeah… plastic connector bits. You’ll find ample flames on that topic here.
Was it @Ranchero50 that replaced those with metal parts?? I beg your pardon, I don’t remember who that was…
cheers.

Thanks, yes, I have a workshop manual for it.
Its at 120K miles and I had all the coolant and oil hoses replaced 2 years ago as they were getting brittle, so I wondered if the manifold gaskets would be reaching their end of life too.
I read some of the posts about that plastic connector, and ones where someone replaced it with a brass compression fitting instead. I'm going to look to see if there is sufficient clearance to use that instead, but space back there is a bit tight.
