Default backup wire location and color

Hey Guys,

Thanks for any "leads"...yes, I know it's a Pun, Ha, Ha, Ha....

See post #66 in this thread:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...d-55139/page4/

George Kale posted his instructions for upgrading to LED taillights in the 2007-2009 cars, and he identifies the leads in there.

Easiest access is at the Auxiliary Junction Box. Plug CA023.

See page 2 here and type in CA023 and you'll see where it is.

Guess it depends on where you need access to the signal, in the cabin (via the junction box), or in the trunk (via the wiring loom).

BTW all, It's one of the cleanest rear view camera projects, I've seen on the subject of adding real rear view camera.

No it doesn't actually. You access where it is the easiest to access since the loom is sourced from the junction box. The wire, regardless of connection can be easily hidden back into boot and fished through in under 5 minutes. Trying to access the loom at the tail light is a royal pain, at least on my back.

I recall you mentioning the need to add a relay due to pulsing interference at the bulb. Splicing the wire at the junction box eliminated the need for a relay as there was no pulse in the signal. Clear as a bell.

Frankly, I'm impressed that they have that diagram. It makes things much easier to find after reading the wiring diagram. Glad it helps.

To install the LED tail lights, I had to open up wiring looms anyway, so it was the most convenient location for that task.
If you're splicing the same wire I did, the pulsing (or not) should be the same at either end of the wire.
As per George Kale's installation instructions, I found the relays necessary, as the backup lights would flash and then go out without them.
Perhaps what you connected to the line was not as sensitive to the pulsing as the LED lamp units?

My bad, I forgot you were converting to LED in your project. I was honing in on the reverse camera only.

If all efforts to clean your existing socket, then, you have no other choice. I see no reason you cannot R&R that particular bulb socket with an approved replacement.

Sand Paper? Maybe first some CRC Contact Cleaner, but do NOT get any on plastic, it eats it.

Also, there is a product specifically for electronic components. One that I know is "Tuner" cleaner. This is when a Dremel with small wire brushes comes in handy.
A Dremel style tool and attachments should be in every DIY'fers tool caddy.

Just finished adding a back up camera. Used the wire off CA023 for signal. Installed camera on bottom of rear lip. Very easy to run wire through boot. There is a rubber grommet about four inches into the spare tire well on the right side. Wire then runs under the vertical carpet piece on right side. Up and over gas tank. There is already a hole near the top of the structure for gas tank. Comes out right above the rear fuse panel. Wires then run under rear seat and tucked up under the trim on side of center console.
