Default A flashback

I have a salvage yard about 6 miles away that I use to get parts for my brides old Volvo. I was there the other day and when I went to look at one of the wrecks low and behold I saw an X-Type on a wrecker. It looked familiar being blue and light interiors but most of all it had a mesh chrome aftermarket grill. I had to check it out and the reason it was there was a blown engine. Just for kicks I wrote down the Vin. Later I did some searching through my old car history file and I'll be dam it was my old X-Type that I sold years ago. Funny world.

Isn't that cool!

My Wife had a Skylark back in high school, she drove it until it died. She and a group of friends went to the Monster Truck event in Tampa stadium and her Skylark was one of the cars that was being crushed by a giant truck. She could even see the bumper stickers she had put on the car...

Small world is always a funny thing.

A good friend of mine says my XK is owned by someone down his street. It's seafrost green with a dealer sticker of the dealership I traded it in to! Good to hear someone local is enjoying the car.

Ha, that's wild. I had a '71 Chevelle that I sold many moons ago that I saw on the highway once. That's the only time. I sold a '66 Thunderbird a few years ago local. I figured I'd see that around eventually but nope.

Now you guys have me curious what happened to some of my previous cars.
Have to see if I still have the VINs and then run a Carfax report on them, sounds like a project for a cold winter weekend (after the holidays).

Only 4 of the cars I've previously owned still exist - my '63 Triumph Herald 1200 convertible, my '98 Mini Cooper S Sportpack, my '87 XJ-S V12 (off road, but still on the registration database) and my '97 XK8. The rest are all gone, unless they've been re-registered with new plates. I've never seen any of 'my' cars on the road.

Wow. It just wanted to come back to say that's for all the good times. Most have brought back some good memories.

I have never seen one of my old ( 25+) vehicles once they have left the buying dealer's lot.

That can make sense as maybe your dealer trade in's were sent to the auction. Also usually most people don't keep their old Vin #'s so looking through carfax won't be feasible. Out of all of the cars I have owned I had only traded in 2 of them and the rest I sold privately. Some of those sales I still have the buyers name and address and some of the Vin. #'s.

I have a recurring dream where I find my very first car (1967 Ford Fairlane) and fully restore it. But that's a visit to the junkyard, for sure. I was VERY hard on that poor car.

Actually, my VDP is local to me as well and running strong. The new owner (who then gave it to his dad) had to replace the air shocks, but that's been it.
