Default Frustrated new owner - can't get here soon enough

Well I wrapped up my purchase of my new 07 XK from a great dealership in FLA on the 17th.

Alas, delivery is another matter. I have budget considerations of course and the Holidays, but no luck yet even getting a pick up date.

I have a preferred transport firm and they're trying their best but still no commitment. I'm also trying out UShip.

I let the first UShip bid process expire when I was able to agree on price with my preferred firm.

Now if they could only find a hauler to commit to pick up the car. Someone please just give me a pick up date!

Just venting, nothing to see here folks... just a grown man crying.... move along, nothing to see here....

I had to wait 2 weeks after paying for mine before it was transported from a few states away. I'd look at the reviews every day, then the photos af the car (which I hadnt seen in the metal). By the time it arrived I pretty much couldnt sleep, I was thinking it wouldnt look that good, I might not like it.

Then when it arrived, it looked amazing. As it was driven off the truck one of the best looking girls I'd ever seen was walking past and said it looked awesome. I thought that if my wife had been there the car would have stayed on the truck...

Worth the wait, enjoy.

Like Apost I was not only impatient I simply don't trust others so I flew to Detroit (oh lovely Detroit!) and drove mine home a few weeks ago. Was cheaper and much quicker than shipping it, any damage done was MY damage, and I got a road trip out of it!

Good luck. Spend this waiting time reading the owners manual online (its free), getting a smart battery trickle charger, making a list of things you want to do when it arrives, order your detailing stuff (if its a convertible get some 303 top treatment), etc.

Ah, my forum brethren felt the pain too. I don't have much choice. I haven't been able to track down an 07 owners manual. Can you point me to it. Topix is a nightmare. Downloads one page at a time.

Usually the larger transporters (Intercity or Reliable) will give you a pick up date when you give them a deposit. I uses Intercity (Jay Leno's favorite) to ship a new/used Audi from Fl. to NY and they gave me a pick up day 2 days after I gave them a deposit and the driver contacted me 5 days later at pick up. They delivered the car 4 days after that. If you have a good transporter you shouldn't have a problem.

I go here which is probably where you go as well. It is not user friendly but once you figure out how to navigate it you should be able to use it fine. I actually have to go in then kind of back out to read it right. Let me know if you can't figure it out, I can give a step by step on how to get there

Yeah I'm not sure if it's my mac but when I select any line, the entire chapter downloads vs opens.

The good news is my car is getting picked up tomorrow and I should see it in a week. The handbook will come with it.

Just had mine delivered from the dealer: Jaguar of Sarasota Florida via SHIPYOURCARNOW
and it arrived in a couple of days with no issues. Truly a fabulous machine to drive.

Well she arrived just in time for me to get plates, stop at the auto parts store for some fuel stabilizer, fill her up and get it in the garage and now it's snowing. Too funny.
For now the showroom pic in my signature (that is my new baby), as well as the pics posted in my album will have to do. Interior is black with burl. I like the other options (aluminum, piano black, etc) but am happy with the current look.

So a short 5 mile drive is all I get until spring. So be it.

Cosmetically, the dealership I bought from, Jaguar of Palm Beach, left no stone un-turned. They disclosed every scratch and nick on the car and provided high res photos of each one. They provided me with an entire maintenance and repair history as PO serviced it with them since 08. I'm certainly not their target demographic but they treated me as though I was.

Mechanically, I can't discern much after 5 miles but I was grinning the entire, albeit short time. The bumper covers will get a respray in the spring and will probably do a wet sand and polish. Tires will be replaced. I think the only work I'll do over the winter is tranny fluid change. I'll get it on the lift and give her a good look over.

It's already on the battery tender. 4 more months to wait, but in the meantime, I'll read the tech manual, occasionally drool and learn from you guys.

And no joke, in those 5 miles, three stops, three people approached me and commented on the car. hey are not common up here in the tundra.

Heh, same here. Flew from Raleigh to Houston, and drove my 97 XJR 16hrs home

But I've also had cars shipped, and feel your anxiety! It may seem like a long wait, but the time will fly by and it will be like Christmas morning when it gets there!

I purchased mine in January 2014. requested the dealer hold it until I finished a major garage expansion. Once I gave the dealer the "go" (a Friday) it was on a transporter by Monday and in my Driveway by Thursday, that week (June 2014).
It came from Chicago. I drove it to my local friendly Jag dealer for a "once over" and an inspection. The story goes on, but, I won't bore you with it.......
